Last chance, folks, tomorrow we'll see how much files are left in our accounts Wink
I just wrote down the number of files and used wytsy's tool to make a list of the names to see if any files will get deleted and which ones.

Quote:

First and foremost,
Dear Mods, I'm sorry where to post this to get attention.
Please move it into appropriate section, once you review this post.
thanks,

On to main topic.

RS has implemented it's damn dirty storage policy and i lost in excess of 80 GB in just one day. One of my friend lost nearly 350GB on 3 accounts. anyway, i guess many of our members also lost 1 to many files yesterday itself. the worst part is - it's a continuing process.
As the saying goes - For every f*cking, irritable trouble, there will be a million soothing solutions. cut the crap here, enough.

I just found a link saving (life saving) solution. It's in German, so our german members wont find it a problem. For english speakers here is a small guide.

This little App will keep your Links alive.
Just paste your Account Data on top (your RS ID and pass, dont worry. it needs this info to download continuously like a premium member)

Copy your links links, then click on "Links aus der Zwischenablage einfügen", (Links from the clipboard) then "Dateien anladen beginnen" (Start file download).

It will only download 1 KB of each file and the File will get the current date.

dead link

it's very small in size, download from here.

well, on to thanks part - if you want to thank me, you know where to find me Smile

Too bad, serielh and cyborg, that you lost files.
(and i hope you don't mind that i merged your threads to this one to keep things together.)

I always wondered why this new rule didn't appear in the RS-news, but i guess it's obvious that RS didn't want to frighten possible new customers. Maybe this was a one-time deletetion (let's hope so) and RS has got enough free diskspace now.
I hope that RS is not planning in a next step to reduce their backup capacities, cause i'm very satisfied with that. I never lost any file due to a hdd-crash on RS-servers. This happened to me two times on netload and i just have uploaded a few files there. And even if i don't like to say it, but at least technically our files on RS are in good hands Confused

Today RS deleted two of my files (no pain, I knew they were going to).
I learned two things.
- The new RS policy is not a one time deletion.
- The inactivity-period is 90 days, not 3 months. Don't make that mistake.

When the new policy was announced, I decided to try setting up a second account using my earned points, and got my first account down below 25GB.

As it happens I ran out of time to try and upload a ton and earn enough points to extend account #2 for a second month (as I had planned). So I'm going to leave that one to expire shortly.

However, going back to my original account, I've been uploading a lot and it's well over 25GB again. But now there's no notice at the top of the Premium Zone to say "your account is over 25GB and inactive files will be deleted" or somesuch. Does this mean that because my account was <25GB at the time of the deadline I'm not affected this time around or something? Does anyone have a notice when they're over 25GB anymore? I see I still have files stored last downloaded in 2008!

It's not on mine anymore either and I've been over 25 for a long time. It was annoying, glad it's gone. No files lost here, program wytsy made helped alot.

On my account the message is gone too.
The two files that were safe two days ago, but were past the 90 days limit today, they were deleted without warning.
I don't know how or why your 2008-files escaped their attention, but I strongly suggest you do something about it.

Thanks for the replys. I don't understand about the 2008 files either, I can only assume it's because I was <25GB at the time of the deadline they gave for the new policy to take effect, so perhaps as a result I escaped having the deletion policy applied to my account? I'm rather confused by all of this... no surprise with rapidshare.

Thank god, this annoying box is gone and i lost none of my files.
But i saw that RS has redone their FAQ-system and the 90-day inactivity rule is mentioned there now:

I haven't seen this before, so i guess we have to live with this "threat" in the future and use our little tools more often ...

You still have to copy the RS-account-data.
It gives you a list of your files sorted by date of last download.

I have a problem with last download: The created txt-file is always empty though I have lots of files in my premium account. Any Ideas?

Sorry to be so late in replying. I wasn't online yesterday.
If you still have problems PM me and I'll see what I can do.
