I think that the whole RS thing just happened at a very convenient time for the Forum owners and the Russian file hosters.

They were all ready to go and I dont think that the Rapidshare issue had anything to do with it.

Are you talking about FO or some other forum?
For some large forums February 2010 and the leaking of the rapdishare IP tracing and submitting in Germany marked the end of their existence.

Pretty much a disaster for many forums. And Megaupload was the big winner first of all.

And what does February 2010 to do with now?

By the way: nobody here is complaining about SHRMTRX and their forum highjacking all around the world.

Yes I can see what Sharin-----ix is doing.
So wouldnt it be more sensible to go with them if we are ruling out RS.
Whats the good of having a stand alone file host just for this forum.
We need to be able to access files on all forums, not just FO

On that point I am still finding anough RS links on forums and movie sites to keep me occupied for most of the night.

You can stop with the "Pages Saved for History" bullshit.

Posts I removed, I removed because we have a rule N4 and N7. I know how they are worded don't begin flooding that I can't read but in my opinion those posts were violating those rules.

I can see your point about spammers and "cash whores" and I admit that we now are getting our share of them but that's to be expected and new Mods are working 8 hours a day each, non stop to clean up the mess because I had to let go old moderators for reasons I've stated before.

I've been getting help from old Mods in form of reports so guys, as I said before If you care about FP and want to help, PM me to get your mod status back but you will have to follow my rules and my not orders per se, guidelines and never again allow things that got the mods and admins privileges revoked.

I promise you that I'm working on a solution to keep spammers at bay and some minor adjustments to guidelines are going to be made soon and I need a few more mods to keep tabs on everything.

Once again, stay on topic of this thread.
FP is not dying. You can still do whatever you were doing before and meanwhile enjoy some new people and their stuff.

Thank you.

the "usergroups" thing only gives me GS, but would it be wrong as well?
obviously it's wrong. someone messed around here https://www.forumophilia.com/groupcp.php (such a high group-ID is not realistic)
on bottom of https://www.forumophilia.com/index.php you can see some user with different status when they are online.

The usergroup number is realistic since it is just a number in running order interleaved with the ordinary numbering of new members.
In simple terms, a group is just another new member.

The list I made is accurate, in the sence that those are the names I (or other Xmods) have seen. There may be others we haven't spotted yet.
Remember that anyone can choose in their Profile if they want to be in stealth mode.
I don't know if any of the new staff has choosen that option.
I'm not an Admin anymore, when I was, I could see those hidden ones too.

Thanks for the honesty, GS.

I think part of the reason why forumophilia worked so well was that the mods really were on top of the ball, and kept the ~200+ so daily active links free of spam. Now that they're mostly gone, it's kind of getting invaded by spammers- and it's starting to look a lot like the other generic porn forums, both in the content and in the people that are posting.

As to the Oron server discussion, it's personally a non-starter for me- since it takes 3h / 6h per download part. So I just close a thread when I see it's hosted by Oron. (But hey, as a infrequent poster, my opinion probably doesn't matter all that much anyway).

Anyway, I don't think everyone has agreed with your decisions lately, but I think we can give credit that you're open minded enough to consider reversing those decisions. So thank you for that.

You are very welcome.

Please take time and read the update in our official guidelines. I will ask our Mods and Admin to make sure that members are informed about new guidelines.

https://www.forumophilia.com/topic53075.html

Basically I've introduced a new paragraph (b:0) in guidelines to help us combat spam. I don't like these spam threads any more than you do, but that's a process and we have to be patient. From now on our Mods and Admin have "legal" grounds to fight this sort of behavior.

Guys, I would like to ask you all to stop discussing ORON and bitching in this thread.
I know and I get your points and as I promised I'm going to work to bring this forum back to shape.

You are free to use RS and share like you were used to meanwhile enjoying some new blood coming in, new content, new members.

Righto, getting serious.

What is missing is the interaction between members. Its what made this forum great. Interaction , the thank yous, the discussions, the requests. Now its just done by robots.

And I dont know how relaible a Russian file host would be.

Wow. What a difference a week makes. I go away and it's chaos and confusion in here. At least for everybody except the New Good Samaritan. A week later...

It's chaos and confusion for everybody in here especially the New Good Samaritan. Congratulations on all your "improvements. The place looks a right shithole.

No. I. Can't. I bloody well cannot. IF any of my threads are still here (haven't checked), you'll find that there's no way I can post the way those (still active) ul's are posted.

And your "new blood" are a right bunch of tossers. Glad it works for Squirrel, it doesn't for me. See you in the funny pages lads, I've no interest in reading even one more of this Good Samaritan's lies and rationalizations. Even if I did want to dl from oron posters, I wouldn't do it here.

Yes, thank you!

I can see from the new rules GS is trying placate us by encouraging these robots to speak, but he must realise: they have no interest in community. They don't collect for themselves. They don't fall in love with a model and spend hours collecting, sorting, watching and enjoying our passion.

They're too busy trying to post as much stuff at as many boards as possible. All you'll get is them posting the bare minimum thread introductions just to meet the rules.

The new Forumophilia guidelines says:
Spamming is prohibited and you all know that so it is STRONGLY suggested that you don’t update your threads
more than 5 times per day. Violators will be punished to the full extent.

dassstin have updated his thread 74 times today.

square have updated his thread 73 times today. After the Administrator Igor G have told him about the guidelines,
square have continuing to update his thread 4 times.

melikh have updated his thread 45 times today.

ION47 have updated his thread 23 times today.

It will be real fun to see what strong action the Moderators will do against this real heavy type of spamming Very Happy

That's interesting, seeing as square is a moderator Exclamation

I hope there aren't double standards going on here. We all want to see integrity in the way rules are applied, and moderators must set the example, as the sacked ones did.

Hi Good Samaritan

I just have some questions about your new rule (b:0):
1. Is it required to put the name of the set and model in the post? I mostly don't do that because then it's easier for Google's-bots (and then reporters) to find the posts. But if that is the new rule I will ofcourse follow it.
2. Is it now a rule that you can only update your topic with 5 posts a day? Because I have several times posted 20/30 sets in a day, is that to be considered spam eventhough it's quality posts (at least I think so) and they are safe (no viruses or nothing) and people like to download them.

RabidSquirrel

P.S. When did I become a "Retired Legend" is that because you have changed the automatic member-titles or is it because you don't want to see us around anymore?

Thanks that you at least found a way to explain it. Wink
But sorry, i don't belive it. Anrej posted vouluntarily and willingly a screenshot of his earnings - that isn't spam IMO
IMHO someone just tried to wipe out some information regarding what easily can be found at WHOIS query for forumophilia.com

I don't understand why exchanging e-mail adresses is affected by rules #4 and #7 - that is completely independent of the board-infrastructure and not linking somewhere else per se.
Isn't oron one of these "money making sites"?

svinto wrote:

OK, sorry. I thought group-IDs would be completely independent from user-IDs? At least it is everywhere else as i've seen so far. The group_id is incremented by 1 everytime a new group is created, the user_id is increased by every new user registering.
However, here the privileges seem to be assigned to users directly and not by group-privileges. Whatever the reasons are, things are not as usual here Razz
