So I had to find some RELIABLE alternative. I tried out nearly every hoster that is out there. Eventually - and REALLY eventually - I moved to oron. But IS THAT REALLY IMPORTANT for the quality of the CONTENT I am providing? It is not. You decide which content you are going to share or discuss. And by the way: feel free to use the allowed hosts here. But I can assure you that I will never ever move back to RS. ONE grand sweep of my files was enough. And I am sure ALL of you know the problem of RS deleting or blocking your content they BELIEVE is copyrighted.
As a small conclusion I like to say that I do not see any problems to continue the great board culture as it was. It is up to everyone to work together and keep things running here. Or am I TOTALLY wrong?

The posts got deleted were about this secret FO testing site and Oron payment screen shoot. I guess GS don't want people to know about that secret FO site until it is ready then just allakhazam in your face without you know what hit you......again. GS must thought we don't read and will not notice posts got deleted.

What's going to happen later IMO is.......more people starting to rip any porn movie from DVDs (already happening with "full length" movies) and up to oron in hope of making a penny. Do you know how easy that is to do nowadays? Everyone just rip porn dvd movie and up as 5 mins clip or 1 scene clip to oron to make money......a big porn site. Yes there will be people that interested to watch them cuz they have never seen that particular clip or scene before and when a site/forum/blog is full of it.......people will buy into the service and download. This is just a new way of making you pay for porn but instead of you pay for a site to download, you pay for hosting service to download and they promise you tons sites and even forum now that you can find to download by using their service.

Is still a PAY porn site just like any others IMO except you think you have unlimited source to download and they said they are FREE site just that you need to buy oron to download.

Is FO going to be such? Maybe......at least I think that was being tested.

With all due respect GS, I think there are some constructive comments in their posts. You just have to sift through all the 'whine' (if you want to call it that) to understand.

And if you really look at it carefully, it is NOT just about RS. Adding RS back into the list is not a cure-all panacea to what has happened. You literally shoved a rule down everyone's throat and that got everyone riled up. Some of the rule changes didn't help the posters at all who want to protect their links from being deleted. Worse, when the new guys come in and post using your preferred provider, you literally let them get away with murder (breaking forum rules) and even changed the rules to accommodate them, going so far as to reinstate some of the banned ones.

I don't think that's fair to the old guns that have made this place what it is (or was) today. And it is hardly even fair to the (now removed) mods.

You are indeed the board owner. But please don't forget that this has been the forumers home too. Some have religiously came in here everyday to post without even asking for any reward. Don't just shut them out and ignore them.

ayebite: great that you found ORON to be the best. While I already have multiple filehost accounts, I won't be buying ORON.

I don't trust them.

Do a web search for the word "Paradontes." If you look carefully you will find out who he most likely is.

I will suggest a possible motive for the changes. Good Samaritan wrote sometime back that he was removing the attachments because of server difficulties. This was probably from a great deal of traffic. Who would be the source of the traffic? The best posters. The ones who have left. They don't use Oron, hence they aren't generating any revenue. If you want to get rid of them, you could ban them outright. However, they could be valuable to the forum if they did switch to Oron. So the alternative would be to make things uncomfortable for them, be rude to them in hopes they will leave if they don't accept the new rules.

The moderators have done a fabulous job. I've read the various explanations for warnings and reasons for banning members. They were very strick but very fair. A special thanks goes to svinto for his integrity and sticking around.

Yes, I don't contribute except by visiting. So that makes my opinion less than worthless. One of the things which kept me coming back was the sense of community and the interesting comments people left. That is now gone, sadly.

I asked that question once, but i will repeat it again:

If all is fine - why is forum dying? If nothing changed - why so many great uploaders are left this place?

Community was made by hundreds of users and their posts. All do their job just for fun, for free. And then someone tells them "you may do your work - but not like you want, but on my way". If i'm doing something for free for someone - there is two options. Take it "as it is" - or don't take it at all.

Forum was working community. IMHO if any changes were planned - it should be explained some time BEFORE. Not some time after. I remember day when forum was moved to the nev server (maybe after someone bought it), and i remember my few posts, disappeared once or twice. And not only i had this problem. Someone can tell me about migration and expected problems. I could then wait instead of posting same posts twice or thrice.

Many changes was made, some of them was overruled, but situation stays. GS tried to **** all community to go his way.

For now we have many angry people, many great uploaders who left forum and owner who telling us how nice place forum became and how good it will be. Apparently many users didn't agree with him.

Let me say ONE thing clear: RS would have been my ONLY hoster still - but THOSE Guys just fucked it up. And I can tell you that I was NOT the only one at that time. In fact THAT RS account nuking was the starting point of ORON. Look at Alexa - read the news from the RS management. Then they fired their CEO (in May) but it was too late for me. My thread readers would have killed me then since I literally pumped ALL of my stuff in 2 months of 24/7 FTP transfer to ORON. I know at least 6 other major uploader that did just the same.

And now for ORON on the side of the DOWNLOADERS: I guess you can imagine how MANY complains I got from my thread readers. I told them the story of RS again and again and was LUCKY that I could proof that I tried out 6 other hosters before I eventually went to ORON. So they could see that I really tried to figure out what works best.

Now I ask you: WHAT would be the doable alternative? DF? I worked with DF and that hoster is - excuse me - SHITTY. Shitty to handle, shitty in the service and the file management. EVEN worse with HF. And at SOME point ppl understood me. Because they saw that more ppl moved to ORON anyway. I apologized about 3 Billion times for my decision and explained just as I do now why i did that. What else can I do? Use SHRMTRX? That is even worse. EXTBT? Holy Moses.

And be honest, ppl: look at your great Met threads or MPL (just wonderful, by the way): RS is just fucking the files up with deleting them after 2 weeks - if you are lucky. I can only say: I am SORRY that I use ORON. But damn: I am SHARING. After that RS fuck I was close to giving it All up for good.

On the other hand: I can remember when some live cam chatsite made its big move. EVERYTHING was just horrible. The old users SCREAMED and protested in the numbers of thousands. But the owner just MADE the change.
And Justin TV is now working better than ever. I had to deal with it. And I eventually did. The CONTENT by the way is STILL the SAME at JustinTV: it is made by the users for the users. In that way it i just the same here.

I think that the whole RS thing just happened at a very convenient time for the Forum owners and the Russian file hosters.

They were all ready to go and I dont think that the Rapidshare issue had anything to do with it.
