Hii all
I try again after several weeks of absence.
During this time, Hotfile has improved very much, they very often cancel the captcha for free users, the waiting time has been reduced from 30 to 15 minutes, and the download speed is more than acceptable. They also have one of the best remote upload services ever.
Please do seriously consider to accept that Hotfile is becoming one of the most used file-hosting services around the world. Another couple of good forums where HF was previously prohibited, decided to change the rule and allow it.
If you keep forbidding it, and in case you need to make space in the forum feel free to remove my account.

Best regards

well James, I don't think removing your account is necessary...
your request is legitimate but unfortunately will be decline by the admins/moderators because of some rules...
I, personally, agree 100% with your statement.

Well, humlan have really strong point. Hotfile is gr8 host after RS but with so many spammers it will ruin the board. That's pity because is better for free users than RS.

Maybe you can consider allowing HF as mirror host. E.G post mast have required host (those from the list) and can have HF as mirror with interchangeable links. This will help free users dw faster. Since the files are growing in size > 1gb this option have strong point. Smile

I really don't understand posts like this. You're a guest on this forum. And as a guest, you should abide to the rules set by the hosters. I have an opinion about HotFile as well, but does it matter? No.
Of course, anyone can make suggestions about rules, but if the answer is "no", just get over it. It's a free forum. You'd rather be thankful for the fact that it is, rather than whining about a host that is or is not allowed..

I have become a Hotfile convert, not because of the money but because of the disdain that RS have for its uploaders through its policies.

I have slowly transitioned my uploading to HF although I still do upload into RS to maintain my point usage.

I respect the majority position to keep this forum HF free, in some ways I've grown to like it as this place keeps my RS points ticking over.

However I think long term RS's future as the preferred file host is numbered.

Take its latest policy for example where the premium points have been devalued and extending the monthly subscriptions through points has essentially got more 'expensive'.

Nevertheless I go with the flow and enjoy this forum for the positive place for like minded people it is.

Thank you mods for creating and maintaining such a great atmosphere and culture.

As a poster, I use HotFile and like it and would love to see the admins/mods finding a way to approve of it while avoiding the use of spammers.

However, if allowing HotFile means this board becomes another polluted bot-haven, then I completely understand and will use alternative hosting. Stuff like that is rare to find today, so I really appreciate the work of the mods on keeping the stuff out, and quality in.

1 big contra of hotfile is to become premium member there. you need to have a credit card or have money stored on your paypal account.
then, the premium subscription renews every month (if you dont cancel the account. the other way is to pay via an authorized reseller).

that always has been something I liked about RS. you can choose each month if you like to continue being a premium member. and its so very easy to handle.

and downloading via hotfile without a premium account is a pain either. you have to type the captchas each time. this sucks.

Yeah, these recaptcha method sucks.

You can try one of the authorized resellers, some accept paypal without any sort of credit card.

I don't mind the recaptcha, I hardly miss them. Rapidshare free is crap on the other hand - 126 seconds for 100 megs?! Plus like a 2 hour cooldown?! I even heard they make premium members take a cooldown too... Wtf!

This. ^^^

In the end the winning / remaining hosts will inevitably be the ones that reward the uploaders the most. The only difference I have with the above poster is I have more than enough useless RS points than I know what to do with so I strictly UL onto Hotfile now.

Yes I upload because I like to share but at the same time if I upload I may as well get $ - just makes sense.

The militant sort of atmosphere here with no UL rewards is completely baffling to me. People say we need to avoid flooding - if the stuff is relevant to the section then the board thrives. If the stuff is irrelevant / unwanted then ban the poster.

Cheers.

My first post in the forum is about HF and hopefully this will not tant me as a spammer or a cashwhore. I have been posting in another forum for 2 years now and I used both HF and RS in my posts.

My links were attacked savagely on that forum (attacks are still on) and that cost me two mega video threads (around 800 GB of damn good porn!) on 2 RS accounts in the last month. HF links were deleted in the process, but those were links to copies of my files (HF allows 5 copies for each uploaded file). My uploads are intact on HF, blacklisted on RS.
Now as an uploader, I would say HF saved my uploads and RS sucked the life out of me!

In any case and in an effort to elude my attacker(s), I'll start posting my RS in here and I would like to suggest allowing HF as a mirror filehost.
This will make life much easier to porn uploaders, how can that be wrong?

Yeah I stopped my threads because of the hotfile topic. I have posted a lot of content that has came out of my own pocket and expensive and I see nothing wrong with rewarding myself. All rapidshare does is give you a bunch of points that you will never use up. especially since rapidshare is so popular. I think there was a time that rapidshare was paying but I wasn't an uploader at that time.

Why so principal about HotFile? It's just another filehost. If one is not allowed here, use the other. I think sharing is not about making profit or earning points; for me the sharing itself, or the thank-yous you get for it, is the reward.
I can understand people making their point here. I do not understand people stopping posting or whatever because of a banned filehoster. Really..

Well the problem is that only about 1%, if that even really say thanks when downloading your stuff. It would be one thing to share stuff that you downloaded from somebody else and then just reposting. But when it comes out of your own pocket it 's different. So for that I don't blame people looking for some incentive to share stuff with people who don't show their appreciation for it.
