Lazuro--the nature of this way of communication lends itself very easily to misinterpretation. How you say something--especially in English--is just as important as what you say. Boards and e-mail take away that part of communication--the how you say something. i.e. if someone writes "eat a dick" it's hard to know if they mean "fuck off" or "consume a penis" or "fuck off jokingly" or whatever. What the hell am I talking about?

that is actually what caused all this fuss. it seems elf punk interprits 'it is sad that this topic or thread is so long' as meaning the people writing it are sad or pathetic. When really what i am saying. i suppose it all comes down to how you read something, but with slang or whatever for young english people it went out of fashion in about 1997 to call somebody 'SAD', meaning they are pathetic in the way that elf punk thought. Also the fact that i said "maybe only in part'' should have been enough indication that i wasnt saying this is just like some big self help group and none of you are genuinely just interested in the topic.
i would have thought any normal person would have answered my post like this-

I hope by this point, you have both come to terms with the fact that you won't always agree with one another 100%, and that in a forum of typed communication, misinterpretation can easily happen. From reading the posts (yes, I've read them all, and you both have very interesting well-thought contributions) I think that's what has happened, misinterpretation. Please bear in mind (everyone) when you're reading someone else's post, that you might not always fully understand what the person is intending to say. This could be due to language barriers (remember, we're a global village) or it could simply be that personally we use certain terms in a way different from how someone else would use them, thanks to human fondness for slang. Anyways, before I get caught up in a ramble...I hope we can get back to the days of "brotherhood" that were enjoyed here before. If someone posts something that you disagre with, or that you think you may not fully understand...ask them for a further explanation, or PM them and discuss it privately if you feel the need. You may, in the end, find that what at first seemed a difference of opinion, turns out to be support of an opinion that you share.

it is easy for people to forget they are writing to people; not just to will-o-the-whisp thoughts in digital form.

Of this we are both guilty. My apologies.

We are also both guilty of focusing more on the differences -- or perceived differeces -- than on the common-ground. For this I am most sorry, as it is not my M.O.

If writing a great deal on a subject is considered pathetic, well then we are both pathetic too, I more than you certainly; though I disagree with the premise. For me, writing is like breathing. It really doesn't take as much time or effort as you might think. For this I do not apologize, but thank you for sharing your impression of it.

I could blame it on the crappy week or anything else, but yes, I was excessively agressive. A prick? Why yes, I was the very prick I've accused you of being. Mind you, this doesn't mean I am saying I was wrong in every word, or that you were not being a prick yourself. But yes, I definitely was being a prick, and I aplogize.

Do try to examine your original statement though. I could have gone about pointing this out to you more constructively than I did (and ordinarilly I can safely say I would have), but there really is a great deal that is implied between the lines that I think you do not realize.

Whether you agree or not though, I hope we can both agree that there is more in common between us than different. I'd very muchlike to focus more on that now, if it's all the same to you.

Lazuro, I think your message was clear until these last couple of posts, which I'm not gonna bother deciphering.

All I know is that at this point, it seems like we're discussing semantics and forum etiquette; OFF TOPIC and BORING in my opinion and it could seriously go on for weeks without resolve anyways.
