IFile.it is already allowed here, but since my last check they added a remote upload function for free, registered users.
That might be interesting for some users who want to give another hoster a try (and avoid RS).
I managed to remote a file from RS and it was quite fast. I failed to remote from NL.
Download speed as a free user was ok for me.

As an uploader I would prefer Hotfile, Depositfiles or Netload. Both from my home-computer and from my OVH-server I get very good upload-speeds to them. (from OVH to Hotfile I can upload a 400 MB file in about 45 seconds). And all three are also very good when it comes to deletions - ie they are very slow to delete. That is also why I won't be using Megaupload - slowish uploads, no FTP and they delete almost as fast as Rapidshare.

As a premium-user Netload is the best of those three, I can max out my connection at all times of the day. Depositfiles is also quite fast but not on the level of Netload. Hotfile is fast at certain times of the day but sometimes I only get like 3mbit/s. Hotfile and Netload doesn't have any quotas but Depositfiles "only" lets you download 15 GB a day. That may also be something to look at, the "no limits" on many filehosters is really bullshit, there's no such thing as free bandwith, so it may be that they cap your speed if you download too much or at certain times of the day. (which I think is what Hotfile is doing).

As a free-user Depositfiles is mostly useless - the "no download-slots for your country" is a familiar sight to any who uses Depositfiles as a free user. Hotfile is quite a bit better, not all that fast but you can get the files after a bit of waiting. Netload is the best of the three, with almost no waiting and the fastests speed i have seen for a free-user.

So if it's a important that free-users can get the uploads, then I would recommend Hotfile or Netload. Maybe Depositfiles could be approved with the caveat that you have to provide a mirror for free-users.

wow... this is an impressive comments and suggestions, particular from a person over 90000(!) posts....
way to go and I think you should participate with the forum owner/moderators about the approving new hosts issue

He has 16K+ posts. It was well written though and he used the word caveat nicely so I suspect it was better than what a 90K poster would write anyway. Smile

Of the ones he mentioned I like HF - mind you I have a premium with them now after the RS changes so I am a bit biased.

After having a premium account for 4 years at RS, they deleted my accounts, 2 premium and 2 collector, with out a word. Soo-- I've now obtained an account at HF. The change seems ok for now, but I wouldn't go back to rapidshit after them dumping me.....must of been all of the Christina, Missy, pattycake, etc... file I had stored??

I have requested for Hot FIle to be included in the allowed file hosters before and now is probably a good time to request it again. My premium account with HF actually ran out but I'm still able to download at over 200kbps on files over 200MB. RS would not let free users DL over 200MB files. The 30 minute wait per download isn't too bad compared to Deposit Files. Sharing Matrix is not only slow, it also does not work with Free Download Manager.

i hope the uploaders reach on consensus on a new hosting site, the forum is mostly rapidshare which was good for downloaders who only wanted to buy one account.

Just an opinion on those sites exclusively blacklisted because of their incentives including money:

-The main reason why they are blacked out is the danger of spam/point whoring and trash posting. Simply blacklisting them is the least administrative work. Still, in other boards that permit these hosters these trash and spam posts are also quite rare: a minimum number of posts before you are allowed to post in sections reserved for sharing combined with a rigorous immediate ban for spamming and posting trash makes this practice unattractive. You have to spend too much time in "validating" your forum membership to make it worthwhile for the meager amount of points you generate before you're kicked for good... sure, you could register under a new nick, but then you have to go through the paces again...even in Bangladesh no one will work an hour for say 25 cents...

And concerning "selling" premium accounts: if an uploader gets a bonus if someone buys a premium account, I wouldn't care too much either, as long as it is not compulsory to buy and the free access is not choked so much as to be unusable... My personal criteria for that would be a speed of 100 to 150 kb/s, not too much wait time between downloads (up to max 1 hour maybe, I dunno what the average is as I am RS premium for quite some time now) and no proliferation of ads (one ad while waiting or one popup would be OK, that is filterable and these guys have to live, too). DLManager support would not be one of the expected features for free users IMO...

Just my 2 Eurocents Wink

And yes, a new "standard hoster" would be great as I love my high download speeds but would rather not pay four hosters just because files are spread evenly between them... Optimum would be if it is one that is preferred on European boards also, they tend to lean heavily towards uploaded, hotfile and shragle...

All I know is with the rapidshare crap going on, I'm not uploading or posting till a new, reliable file host is approved. I only want to buy 1 account, not 5. I have a megaupload account and I'm not real fond of it. The new rapidshare sucks, to many trashed uploads. Please somebody pick hotfile or something fast, I have a lot of shareing to do.

More and more Threads dies, cause People do not upload new Stuff again on RS and some will leave the Board where more Hosters are allowed,

I think we should give Hotfile a Try or maybe Sharingmatrix and then see whats happen.

Netload is the file host I've used the most as a free user to download porn. But I'm not considering Netload for hosting my files. Like I said, the only file hosts I'm thinking about right now are Filesonic aka Sharingmatrix and Hotfile. If MU would allow porn that one would probably be my first choice..

Um... If MU stands for MegaUpload, they've allowed porn for like.. years. I've been using MU for the past year in my upload posts.

Yes, MU stands for MegaUpload. And no, porn is not allowed there. It explicitly says so in their FAQ.

I did not know that porn is not allowed to be uploaded to MU and that's why I used it a very long time now. No files so far were deleted because I shared porn.

I just checked their FAQs and the English page says:
Which files are allowed to be uploaded?

All files that do not violate our terms of service or the laws of concerned countries. This means that files violating copyrights, or containing pornography, are forbidden and will be removed as soon as we notice. If you see such files on Megaupload, we would be glad if you notified us: Simply file an abuse report on our front page.

It says something different. When I translate the German text into English it means:
[...] Files violating copyrights, or containing prohibited pornography, are thus not allowed. [...]

Of course, it is not allowed to share prohibited pornography. But does that automatically mean unprohibited pornography is not allowed either?
If you do what their FAQs say, then everybody should stop using MU no matter if it's porn or not. Most of the uploaded files violate copyrights anyway.

News from uploaded.to (9 July 2010)
-------------------------------------------
Dear users of our platform,

after we've already optimised our reward system, once again alterations at our system become effective, which affect every customer of us.
In particular it was very important for us, to provide an added value for the usage of our services to all our customers.

Starting with our premium customers, we've doubled the maximum available download volume and therefore every premium user can now accumulate up to 100 GB traffic volume.

Simultaneous to the introduction of the increased download volume also 100 GB traffic was directly made available to every premium user at no cost. In parallel we've increased the daily credit of the download volume by 50% to 15GB.

However not only premium users are important to us, but also those users, which demand our free services.
Because of that we've decided to enable a downloadrate of up to 500 kbyte/s for free account users.

In order that our calculation in the title is even some extent comprehensible, we hereby would like to announce that the maximum filesize of formerly 250 MB was raised to remarkably 500 MB.
With that said now also files with a size of up to 500 MB can be up and downloaded.

why even have a suggestion thread if you are going to censor out the suggestions. That makes no sense at all.
