It's not done manually. There's an automatic word list that someone has updated recently. If you see the name of a host censored, consider that host pre-rejected.

I hope one day Depositfiles & H0tfile will be allowed, because they are really good hosts (in downloads & uploads).

why even have a suggestion thread if you are going to censor out the suggestions. That makes no sense at all.

I agree.

Sounds like things have been decided already? Surely better to let open discussions continue until an announcement and rules update is made. Otherwise it's just taking the piss out of the people in this thread who are trying to help.

OK, seems like at least one additional host has been allowed: mediafire. Still I find it a bit weird that except RS and MU all allowed hosters on this forum are little backyard shops whose names I have never heard before...

One thing I have to say: I do very much appreciate the admins' work to try and locate file hosters that are free-user-friendly, especially as if Rapidshare really ceases to be an alternative there will be fragmentation of hosts the like we have never seen before... I don't think we will see another single hoster becoming the main tool across all forums worldwide anytime soon. DF, Shragle or Oron might be much used already, still they are quite slow for free users, which spells "Buy Premium" each time... and three or four premium accounts is definitely not going to happen here. At the same time, mediafire claims unlimited ups and downs and no bandwidth throttling for free users (couldnt test, have not yet seen mediafire links...) , but is comparatively expensive for their subscriptions... ifile.it again has no premium services at all, which makes me wonder how they finance themselves, as I have not seen ads either...

Still, I would love to see at least one of the mainstream hosters here, if only for the convenience of not needing to upload onto various hosters, as perversely many hosters allowed here are disallowed elsewhere...

edit: Could try mediafire now... dl went with a speed of 180-200 kb/s, so not that bad for a free dl but not that much for a RS-Premium-Spoiled user...

The thread is still open so I suspect they are still debating what to do.

Hmmm... HF is censored - which is a shame if they are not considering it.

HF generates too much spam on boards that allow it, so it was completely rejected. A couple others fall into this category as well.

The official announcement isn't ready, but I am reasonably certain that Oron will be added to the list. There's some discussion about whether and when other hosters might be removed.

Woah, Oron really? I'm not familiar with it at all, so that kind of came out of left field.

Just gave it a test whirl = 40Kb/s as a free user uploading, which was onpar with my Rapidshare upload speeds.
60 second download countdown, 72kb/s as a free user downloading, also onpar with Rapidshare (Oron is based in Europe?)
Next download had a higher countdown period (3 minutes) which I'm guessing is based on file size. (bigger file size = longer countdown times)

Not too shabby, seems fairly reliable. Anyone else had experience with oron to share?

hi guys
considering the "modified" attitude of RS to dry-off our wallet wouldn't be better 1) to use MU and 2) to strongly suggest the uploaders to create larger files.
The free version of MU is usually much faster than RS. Furthermore with a single dwnl (most of the movies here are smaller than 900MB) we'll spare a lot of time.
Sorry if u have already discussed the issue

Oron seems ok for free users, but is going to result in a lot more dead links:
"For how long my files are kept on your server?
If you are a premium user your files are kept infinitely. If you are not a premium user however, your files may be deleted to avoid build up of not needed information but no sooner that after 30 days have passes since last download."
I have never had any files that weren't downloaded in more than 60 days, but I do have quite a few that haven't been downloaded in more than 30 days. Can't say I'm looking forward to having to keep re-uploading my files. To me Oron definitely doesn't seem like the best option for uploaders.

Fileserve seems extremely good for free users and only deletes files after 90 days after the last download. I just downloaded a file at a speed between 300 Kb/s and 400 Kb/s as a free user (no captcha). Only 30 seconds waiting time before downloads and you can download 1 file per 10 minutes. Seems great for free users AND uploaders.

About 2 months ago I had reason to use Mediafire a lot to DL rar files. I was getting speeds of less than 100k/s.
Much less. My RS speed is always over 1M/s. I then paid for a one month premium account.
The speed was the same! Also, and importantly, about 15 out of 200 rar files had errors! Since the site also provided 4share links I DLed some of those rar files from 4share. No errors. After the one month I got a one month 4share premium account. Much better speed and no DL errors.
Both sites charged ~$10 for a one month premium account.

I did some more testing downloading from Fileserve as a free user and 1 file per 10 minutes really means 1 file per 10 minutes. I downloaded a movie (2 files, 700 Mb each) and there was no more waiting time between the first and second download than the 30 second waiting time before each download, because the first download took more than 10 minutes.
The download speed wasn't as high as before, but still mostly between 200 Kb/s and 250 Kb/s.
The maximum file size is 1 GB..

Oron? this is bad news... slow downloads, biggest waittimes, daily limits... well, sad to hear, but of course, I am just an ordinary guy who visited forum often in good times... but with oron... other sites went out from my bookmarks because of that.

From the Oron FAQ:

"How much can I download?
Free users can download up to 5000 Mb within 3 days. Premium users can download 12000 Mb within 3 days utilizing maximum available speed. If you are a Premium user, but 12000 Mb over 3 days is to low of a limit for you, you can always create another Premium account and keep downloading."

Doesn't exactly seem great for free users, premium users AND uploaders..

yeah, this is a VERY bad news, If the board owners will announce "Oron" as the "new generation" approved hosting service it will be very shame to the board... Oron, compare to the 'mainstream' hosters we discussed about is very bad,
very slow and definitely a low-level pathetic hosting service.... Exclamation

read my lips: it will be mistake. a critical mistake.
