Laughing Yeah ! But it rocks !

- max 1gb per file
- no limited space storage
- no limit of downloads
-great keep back of non downloaded files :
100 days for file of + 200 mb
200 days for file between 50 and 200mb
400 days for file less than 50 mb

funny or not, rocks or not but an English language is a MUST!
so a big NONO for this one...

I recommend HotFile & MegaUpload
and maybe DepositFiles - I think a fair file hoster

To honored members,

It's good to have an open discussion about new/additional filehosts especially since as a member of another forum board that recently allows Hotfile and Sharingmatrix, I've personally seen the effect of changes to filehost options particularly allowing HF and SM.

Now the good is that both Hotfile and Sharingmatrix, in my experience, are fairly good quality filehost services. I've had some people complain that Sharingmatrix download speeds are slower and sometimes connectivity to Sharingmatrix gets interrupted, but for the most part, both are quite good.

Now the bad: when this other forum allowed Hotfile and Sharingmatrix, the boards were absolutely flooded with newly joined posters uploading low-quality posts and old inactive members suddenly posting average content. It was to the point where if you refreshed the board after 5 minutes, and a completely new set of posts would fill the first page of the board. The obvious reason is because Hotfile and Sharingmatrix offers cash incentives for files downloaded and whether it was posting low-quality clips or reposting content 3 or 4 times in a row, it was simply ridiculous... and this is only within 3 days!

I guess what I'm saying is as much as I do like using Hotfile, if there are any other quality filehosters that don't offer cash incentives for files downloaded, that would probably be the route to go. I can easily see a flood of posts initially and possibly for quite some time from "cash-host vultures" if Forumophilia allows Hotfile and Sharingmatrix.

Again, I'm not saying HF and SM are bad filehosts - they're actually very good from my experience. I just hope if HF/SM are allowed, it doesn't ruin the quality posts here and well-maintained order of this enjoyable forum.

To sum it up, let's see if there are other quality filehost services that don't have cash incentives. If there aren't, try a trial run with Hotfile and hope cash-host vultures don't divebomb flood this forum. Wink

The only reason I post to RS is to get some Rapidpoints, the free service is so bad I couldn`t tolerate it any more.

There`s no point in posting to Megaupload because the free service is excellent, I don`t need a premium account.

That leaves Hotfile, they are based in Panama City so hopefully they won`t be as vulnerable to legal threats as RS.

If Forumophilia suffers an increase in spam as a result of allowing Hotfile then the mods can deal with it, I`ve been a mod and I know they mostly do nothing all day.

Hotfile does not expire files

Hotfile supports 2G files, that can be downloaded by free users.

If a file on Hotfile gets reported they send you an email (or they do to me)

Hotfile allows the same file to be uploaded after a report. Which means you can do a fast reup from a backup file server (from which you never post)

HF earnings can be used to fund your backup file server account - which is why you're not tempted to post from it.

Using ****m's file & image uploader, ups to HF are consistently 33% faster than ups to RS.

Alternatives to RS should support bi-directional remote uploads to and from other file hosts & FTP servers - HF provides that service. But its no good if only one allowable file host supports remote uploading - there was a thread on this - but like PIC POSTS its gone down the gurgler - Loui might know where it went Rolling Eyes

HF support is practically non-existent and their English online help/faq is ordinary - actually its pathetic.

I could not say were to go for them that like to share because ive always used Rapidshare for sharing my files, But i have used a few differnt file hosting sites in the past, and the 3 i liked most, other then rapidshare (before rapid went shit) was Hotfile, Depositfiles, and Megaupload. But i was paying them to use mainly to download stuff, and i found that if you were looking for Russian porn then Depositfiles was great to use, and if you like Asian stuff then Megaupload was great, and Hotfile seemed to have a mixture of everything.

So my tip is to them that want to change over from rapidshare but only want to download files, is to go for a filehost that is based in a country were you like your porn from. However the only problem is if you dont know how to use site's like google to search for your files then you may have trouble looking for files that are stored with that filehost. But if you know how to search for files other then looking on well known forums then you can hit gold.

Rapidshare.com was a all rounder before the went tits up, so it will be fun seeing what will be the next most used file host for forums like this, if rapidshare dont do something fast to please the costomers.

Since rapidshare is basically now trying to make you pay for a bunch of storage and force you to put your downloads up for sale, I feel its definitely time to try hotfile. The one thing that is different about hotfile compare to other affiliate programs is that you get rewarded for quality uploads. Not just of bunch of massive posting. It's designed to reward good uploaders and penalize massive uploaders The whole new rapidshare thing seems complicated. What if someone pays for a download and then it is a fake file or something? That would really suck. Even if you are just a downloader and not an uploader hotfile has unlimited daily downloading and rapidshare will cost the same monthly as a 6mo hotfile membership with a 1GB day download limit. Oh and to top it all off. The daily download limit gigs that you do not use no longer rollover like before so you'll still have the same daily limit no matter how much you download everyday. That really nails in the coffin for me.

Been using RS for a long time. Their new policy suggests they will lose a big portion of uploaders. Its understandable being Switzerland and having legal headaches all the time, they want less sharing of links and want to become more like swiss bank than your local savings bank. Whatever. End of rant.

As for alternative I have used depositfiles for 2 years together with my RS account and it was as good from the download side. I didn't upload anything so no idea there. In any case the decision of several mods and big time uploaders will be my decision as well.

Is there a timeframe when a decision will be made to allow other hosts like HF?

It was suggested in another thread that my suggestion for a file host be moved here. I'm just going ahead and posting it.

Of all the hosts permitted here, I think MegaUplaod is the fairest to both uploaders and downloaders. You can upload and download for free with fairly gracious file retention times and a 45 second wait period for downloading. Unlike some hosts, the wait time for subsequent free downloads doesn't get longer - every file has the same 45 second wait time. If you sign up (still free), you get slightly longer file retention times and the wait time drops to 25 seconds.

The real beauty of MegaUpload, to me anyway, is that even free downloaders can get files up to one gigabyte - no more splitting files into 100 and 200 megabyte chunks. That makes it a lot easier for free downloaders to get larger files without having to go back and get all the pieces. That's also going to simplify the mess I've got going on as I intend to move all 3300+ files I have on Rapidshare to Megaupload.

With the paid package prices being cheaper than the others I looked at, and the fact that your files are never deleted as long as your account is active, I just took the hit and signed up for life at Megaupload.

In my opinion, HotFile may be a good option.
Depositfiles is near useless as far as I'm concerned.. Half of the time I get the message that all slots for my country are busy.

Yes I am not a fan of DF or RS at this point.

I think HotFile or Sharing Matrix should be supported myself - I like them both.

Cheers.

I'm not a fan of the money hosters ... but most of them have a large filesize limit

it's not so bad to DL from hotfile or depositfiles for a large, single-click file

but when the file is split into a bunch of 100MB pieces, forget it

I like MultiUpload. It spreads the files to all the major hosts.
