Just found out my collectors account is gone...
Quote:
Dear collector's user xXxXxXx,

we have just converted your free collector's account to a free premium account!

Please use the following login data to use your new premium account instead.
All your files and points have been transferred there.

As long as I can get a free download-account every once in a while, I don't care. So this Quote:
New product and pricing models make RapidShare as flexible and low priced as never before
might be a good idea for them (RS), I never paid (or pay )for any RS service so I wonder how they're going to make that even cheaper...

Laughing

Still, RS sucks, and sucks more with every change they make.

So. Now back to what I came here for: DL some porn...

cheers.

has anyone had issues when it comes to deleting files on rapidshare now. you can move them to the trash folder. but if you delete them if you refresh they just appear back on you file list.

Its a shambles.

Can it be that it's the same bug that you encounter when uploading files (and don't find it)?
Have you tried to log out and log in again?

I also noticed an inconsistence between the value of the filecounter in the "Account Overview" and the counter in the "FileManager"

Btw, both, HF and NL told me that it's not possible at the moment to remote files from RS. Looks like everybody is now copying his files to another hoster and RS servers are too busy Wink

I have the same problem, trying to delete my files. I deleted the folders but the storage amount remains the same: almost 300GB!!

I'm done with RS!! Evil or Very Mad

But I can't stop laughing when I read this:
Quote:
As of July 1, 2010 RapidShare's RapidPoints programme will be discontinued. This decision by the company is a reaction to claims that the reward programme rewards the uploading of contents that are protected by copyright.
We feel it is necessary to undertake this step as we do not wish RapidShare's users to be exposed to such an unjustified general suspicion. Our primary objective remains to provide users with a fast, secure and reliable service.

Except for business purposes, I guess, what files would one want to download or upload?? Surprised

I'm only sad that forumophilia doesn't allow other FH services like hotfile, filefactory, easyshare, depositfiles...
I know, I know, this matter has been discussed... Embarassed Confused

downloading with http:RS-Login:RS-Pass@rapidshare.com/files/ doesnt't wotk anymore.
Hoster need to make use of a valid RS-Cookie.

The Name of the cookie is "enc", the value is a string, which identifies the RS-account. Should be possible for other hoster to ask for this value or to generate a cookie from User/Pass, but they'll just have to do it.
The advantsge of cookies is, that noone needs to know your Login/Pass

I've tried deleting a file several times and it was gone sometime (I don't know what did it) thus there is not necessarily a need to upgrade and use "Foldermanagement" nor any tricks with waiting a day.
Moving files to another (inactive) account seems the best option for me, if you just don't want to pay Rapids for hosting files.

5gb per is usable since I have been more selective about what I download, but it still pisses me off that I have enough points to get another 600 rapids but cannot use them because I converted premium to free before they changed.

Same here. Just before I got their little mail, I was converting. Now the points are down the drain.
Have you asked them? They can convert FreePoints. Support is busy, but the points will be gone definitively in some days. userL301 wrote:

Yes, converting was possible. And that's the issue, since I have thrown away my premium points in order to prolong my account. Which isn't possible anymore. So, my premium points are gone down the drain for sweet FA.

Ask the support to undo the conversion.

Writing a mail from the addy in your account, with the information about the erroneously converted points should solve the problem. My guess is that it thakes time, because the support will be quite busy the following days ... Sad

We are discussing this and the thread for suggesting new hosts have been reopened.
A change will take place in a near future but there are many aspects to consider carefully.
This far we have been able to defend ourself from a lot of unwanted posts to maintain a high quality standard on what's available for download.

Opening up for plain cashwhores is something we would like to avoid.

Just call this another venting post. I still can't believe they've done what they done and how they've done it.

Okay... To be fair, I know Rapidshare was taking a lot of heat, having to go to court and all that. So a change was necessary to protect their own interests and I guess this is just another case of another company using their "reserved right" to terminate or amend their system at anytime. That much makes sense. But what they've handed a lot of us really sucks. The [i]least[/] they could've done was let the accounts of Premium users run to whatever time we had accrued without fear of losing files. I had all my files protected for months to come yet. Now I'm looking at two choices. A small package that doesn't eat up my Rapids and opens a bunch of files to deletion, or a big package to protect my files that will eat up my Rapids in less than two weeks. For that, I hope they fall flat on their face. I give it a 50/50 chance that they'll make yet another change in the next couple of months when they see how many people leave them.

Now it's possible to limit the maximum Rapids/day for the auto-upgrade.

When you had stored more than 50 GB of files in a Premium-Account before the changes, then the files were stored for 60 days without dowload.
Now this didn't change, if you select the option for "automatic inactive file deletion" and have set RapidMedium as your maximum auto-upgrade

Nothing changed! -> It's more complicated or flexible - whatever you call it.

Can someone confirm or correct me on my understanding on the rapidshare mess

My understanding is that if you choose "rapidsmall" & choose "Your maximal package" & tick "Automatically delete inactive files (after 60 days without a download)", then your files will remain on their server as long as they're accessed (d/loaded) once in 60 days, regardless if you are Exceeding Storage.

So you only have to upgrade if you want to d/load more than your traffic allows

If this is correct why delete files? (unless they are files you want to keep)

Is this right?

Correct.

No need to delete, if you don't care, which files RS delete due to the inactivity rule. You can't allocate certain files to the secure storage.

And it's also possible to auto-downgrade. You can enter your minimum package, and Rapidshare will set you down after 24 hours of an upgrade.

Fine for grabbers. You can choose the minimum with 4 Rapids/day, and only if you download more than 1 GB you will be upgraded and after 24 downgraded.
