Hey anyone has any ideas what's going on at rapidshare now?
They change the way their service works yet again and this one makes absolutely no sense to me.
thank you

Warning! Watch your traffic!

RS does an automatic upgrade if you exceed the package just for one Byte - and there is NO automatic downgrade.
dead link
Arrow we do not offer such a feature. Downgrading can be made manually

You might run out of Points, ehm ... Rapids without noticing! Now you have to check your traffic before every download.

dead link
Arrow The automatic upgrade will always select the next higher package.

Points are not shown on the web-page, but still there.
Some seconds ago i've switched a CA to a PA and then used my points to extend that account. Quote:

I'm not sure I get it either Confused

userL301 you say you extended your account but I can't see on the "account overview" page where it says a date you've extended to! (unless you mean extra rapids)

I had about 340 days left on my acct & about 39,000 free pts & 58,000 prm pts & 126gb of stored files

It says I have 7060 rapids (don't know if that's right) & I am currently on RapidSmall (which I'm pretty sure I have to change to RapidBig, to accommodate my uploaded files... I think) Confused Confused

What happens to my files that have "Exceeded Storage" if I'm on the wrong package?

I HAVN'T A BLEEDING CLUE WHAT TO DO

any advise for this simple man who likes simple things would be very much appreciated

Also do I get penalised for people downloading my files Confused

Hahaha i don't get a shit. Excuse me if this questions are stupid, but i'd like to know

1.- My (free) premium account is valid for the next six months, Will that change?
2.- Does this means Forumophilia is going to lose a massive amount of files this next months?
3.- If that's the case and my six months are still valid i have the time to reup my stuff in another hoster and change the links. Any recomendations? Where's everybody going? MU?

Thanks and good day.

As far as I know, the storage limit is secured storage, which means, if you don't exceed it, there is no deletion after no download penalty.
If you exceed it, files not downloaded for more than 60 days will be automatically deleted.

No need to upgrade IMHO.

I still cant get used to the new language ... There is no expiry-date, so no extension anymore. Only these Rapids.

All accounts are valid forever. (maybe there is some claenup of accounts not used for a long time)
The date is not used anymore, now you have the premium/platinum status as long as you have (Points/)Rapids. All remaining days of a Premium-Account have been converted to 20 Rapids each.
e.g. 7300 Rapids = 365 days * 20 Rapids/day [this was done automatically]
+ 5 Rapids / 1GB TrafficShare remaining [automatically]

According to RS there will be an option to convert (5000 FP AND 5000 PP) into 600 Rapids. I've just used the old way of extending an account, which did the same.

Files are stored for maximum 60 days without download (like before) - depending on the "Storage safe of deletion" the files stay online forever. [There is a new option in the settings: Automatically delete inactive files (after 60 days without a download). ]

The system selects the package automatically and without notification: dead link
I recommend seperating download- and upload-account Arrow create a new account and move all files there.
This way you won't loose any Rapids just for storing files.

Now you only have to be really carefull with downloading, if you don't want to loose all Rapids wirhout even noticing.

I hope that RS will fix this, even if they state its intentionally made this way.

There wont be much new uploads to RS, because they cancelled their point-system.
MU is an option - most other hoster are not allowed here, because they pay in cash.

Absolutely

RS is doing this on every occasion Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

There is a need to downgrade everytime RS switched to something different.

So on the current package (small), will I be able to d/load say 2 movies @ 1.4gb each or will I have to upgrade to do so?

ie what does the "Traffic left 1 000 MB" mean

It means exactly what you asked for:
You have 1 GB left that you can download before you are forcefully upgraded to a more expensive package. For your two movies, you'll have to upgrade to RapidMedium (5 GB / day), which costs 20 "rapids".

Also note:
Download volume not spend is not carried over to the next day. It is wasted!

I suggest to download during the Happy Hour, so 1 GB traffic is worth 10 GB.

Can be done automatically with jdownloader and time schedule.

Are you sure the Happy Hour even exists anymore?
According to everything i've read, it doesn't.

Also and the reason for me to look for another service:
You get no rewards for uploading anymore. No points, rapids, anything at all.

This is pure bullshit, i can not be arsed with rapidshare no more, i am sick of them changing the policy every few months. Lucky ive always paid monthly for my rapidshare account, and that was only because i have been a long time customer with them since Rapidshare.de days, and because i was a long time customer i got more of a download limit then i would if i just joined them now, well before this new rapids thing kicked in.

Also, im one of them people that aint greedy and i might not download anything for weeks but one day i might need to download a few gigs. Well fuck them i am not gunna waste my time with a 1GB a day download limit, yes i could pay for a rapid medium but why should i pay afew dollers more just to please them when they are always changing the policy. I am gunna go with Depositfile or Hotfile since the are the next file hosters i usely come across for the type of files i need.

Well your lost rapidshare, at least i always paid every month with cash because not everyone has time to genarate 10.000 points for a free month. I think out of the years ive been with them i have only used my erned points that rapid give me about 2 times for a free month.

Read it on another board, a member there asked the RS support.

How long, only heaven knows.

By the way: I've unlocked the suggestion thread again:
