Apparently, the NAACP is going to rally in support of Michael Vick. Apparently, this is the most pressing matter for the Philadelphia chapter. Wow, they have nothing else to worry about? Things must be great in Philly as far as equality and race relations if this is the most important civil rights issue in town. I would think racial profiling, job equality, and a million other issues are more important.

When was the last time we heard of the NAACP in the news. This rally is the first real publicity they've had in a long time. So whether they care about the cause or not, it will be great PR for them.

I am just baffled as to why Philly signed Vick. The risk far exceeds the potential rewards of signing someone like him. And do they really think Vick will help them win any games? Forget the horrific crimes he committed, he's just not that good to begin with. I look forward to a losing season for the Eagles. Very Happy

I'm not a football fan so I'm not sure if Vick is any good, but I still don't see why a team would want to sign him given the huge amounts of bad press that are sure to follow him for the foreseeable future, whether it's warranted or not.

Why did the Eagles pick up Terrell Owens back in 2004 ? We all know full well that T.O is a media whore, troublemaker and a cancer to any team he signs with. Granted he can run and catch, but over the years he has become less impressive and more of a nuisance, but yet the Eagles still signed him and then he spent most of his time badmouthing the team, management, Andy Reid and McNabb. To cap it off, he then spent his remaining time on suspension before he was released. I live in Dallas, so i got to here about his shit on almost a daily basis and thank god they cut his ass. Now he is Buffalo's problem.

NO, he didn't commit any crimes, but his name alone was enough to get people interested in watching the Eagles and for all we know the same might true of Vick. He may play badly, but the media will still report and the team will get TV coverage and attention which is what the Eagles franchise may very well want to get more people in the seats.

The difference is that Owens is a great receiver when he tries. Vick never was a top 10 quarterback. Yeah, Owens is a cancer in the locker room, but when he tries, he is one of the best receivers in the league. No matter how hard Vick tries, he isn't even good enough to be a starter now.
