I do agree that it isn't fair that the other felons in the NFL don't get the same treatment as Vick. Still, I feel no sympathy for Vick losing his endorsements. You commit crimes, you should lose your endorsements. And if a company or organization mistreats animals, PETA is all over it. There are boycotts and protests, so saying that somehow Vick's case is unique is inaccurate. There was even controversy over Obama killing a fly. A fly!!!

I apologize if I gave you the impression I thought dog fighting didn't exist outside of that one house in Virginia. But you said dogs around the world were going through worse than that, so I thought you were talking about being eaten.

Its difficult for most people to get outraged at the possible goings-on in some vague back alley in Argentina...its not in their face. This was a very public figure involved in a gory, disturbing story that was repeated in great detail by our news outlets. I think its only natural the public reaction would be greater, louder, and more violent.

He was dumb. He was also raised around dog fighting. Dog fighting isn't new. I give the man the benefit of the doubt, he's sorry & won't do it again. He lost his huge endorsement deals. Let the man work at the job he does best.

Discussion should be about the teams that would sign him & how he's going to fit in. Obviously, we now know it's the Eagles. Nobody really knows how they're going to use Vick. He can't be their starter. They discuss it on the radio, but there's no agreement. Should be a good discussion about it. No need to repeatedly jump on the dog fighting thing. The title isn't "Vick goes to jail for dog fighting", it's " Michael Vick Reinstated". Let's not beat a dead horse (or dog).

I dont see how his criminal activities and the impact its had to fans and the NFL can be ignored. His actions went much deeper than being caught at a local dog fight with a $50 bet on the match. That would be far easier to let go. He financed and operated an illegal organization for 6 years, part of which came from his $30 million dollar signing bonus with Atlanta.

I will however, end my griping here so folks can discuss the future of Vick football.

I couldn't care less about Michael Vick the player. He was grossly overrated and never lived up to the expectations that he could be one of the best QB's in the game. He was never a top 10 quarterback in the league and I just never got why he was given so much press before the felonies came to light.

It's because Vick didn't act like your typical quarterback. He could scramble like a running back, he made jumps and dives like a back and would make blocks like a back. All this without worrying about what it would do to his body. Now there were times he played hurt and nursed the injuries by not doing any of the above mentioned things, but they were probably what injured him in the first place. Aside from never being a top 10 quarterback he was fun to watch even just to see what crazy ass thing he would do next.

It's exciting watching him run around like a madman and then throwing a pick. Twisted Evil But that's my whole point. If he's lost a step, he's nothing. Without the ability to outrun the defenders chasing him, he probably should be the third string quarterback on the Eagles. His QB rating is like 75, which isn't good.

He's done his time and it's only fair that he gets to play again. That said, he is nothing but an average quarterback and if he's lost a step and can't scramble anymore, he will be below average. As far as endorsements, an athlete's endorsement value is directly linked to the image they put forth, so it will take a lot for Vick to overcome that hurdle, although volunteer work with the humane society and similar organizations will go a long way toward changing that image.

I don't think humane societies would let him anywhere near animals. It would be like having a sex offender working at a women's shelter. It doesn't surprise me that Vick will be playing soon, since NFL has its share of felons. I just wonder if there is a crime in which a player would be kicked out of the league permanently. You can torture animals, beat women, and kill people and still be allowed back in.

Dexter Manley who won 2 super bowl titles with the Washington Redskins was banned for life from the NFL after failing 3 drug tests.

In 1989, while playing for Tampa Bay he failed his 3rd drug test and was banned from the NFL for life, with an opportunity to apply for reinstatement after one year. However, after he failed his fourth drug test, he was permanently banned from the NFL for life on December 12, 1991. He went onto the CFL and played for Ottawa Rough Riders from 1993-1994 before retiring.

You can violate leagues rules enough to be kicked out for life, but I wonder if someone could commit a crime and be kicked out for it. So far, not even killing someone keeps you from returning.

I think Vick should be thrown in a cage with a couple vicious dogs and let him get chewed on a bit. After a certain period of time, they can drag him out and then he can play in the NFL. Ooops I forgot, they should tie Vick up first, then let the dogs play Wink
