Is it that easy to get prescription drugs in the U.S.? It seems like everybody has access to very dangerous stuff (except the prescription drugs they actually need). The countless celebs that seem to have endless supplies of prescription drugs. There is a reason you need a doctor's note to get that stuff. Drugs are drugs, whether they are legal or not. If improperly used, then just look at Heath Ledger or Michael Jackson (allegedly). There might be manslaughter charges against the quacks that gave Michael his drugs. Maybe there should be manslaughter charges to scare these so-called doctors that act more like drug dealers than physicians.

I couldn't agree with you more - this shouldn't just be target at quacks, but the entire medical system in North America. Doctors have become dispensers not practitioners, fueled in many ways by the 'kick backs' offered by the multi national pharamaceuticals. WE are becoming a society, fueled by the quick fix - aspirin is now replaced with Vicodin, and parents, too busy to parent their hyper ****ren whose educational system has cut back on physical activity in school, now prescribe them - Ritalin.

What has just happened to MJ, is a thousand folds occurring in the cities and homes of middle American daily - just that these people stories will never be heard.

I think public awareness needs to be raised about prescription drug abuse and the dealers (ie doctors) that peddle them. You're responsible for your own actions, but I don't think Michael Jackson fully understood how dangerous that sedative was he was taking (allegedly). Greedy doctors and drug companies have cost many lives from over prescribing drugs to giving drugs to people who don't need them. Instead of interviewing juiced up baseball players, maybe the Senate could actually do something useful and look into the abuse of prescription drugs and the doctors that act like dealers.

I watched the same thing happen to elvis. We the public, we push these's stars to thier death ! We expect them to preform non-stop to make us all happy. But when they stop we have no choice but to talk about them and make up storys about them, to where they can no longer take it, and the next thing you know they are on drugs to try and cope ! Michael did a great deal of things for people around this world. And used his own money to do it with ! But do we ever hear about that in the news media ? ofcourse not ! We all seen what the news media has done to michael most of his life and we all stood by and let it happen ! He gave his life to make us all happy and we gave him nothing back in return. Michael did not see himself as a person of the usa only ! No he seen himself as a person of the whole world, he belonged to all of us ! Will this happen again ? of course it will ! And will we all be there to stop it ?........

Not an exact quote but Wacko Jacko said somthing to the effect of...
"I want that drug and I dont care how much it costs!" As this is what he said about most things, Neverland Ranch being a good example. There actually had to be laws circumvented and rezoning done to accomadate his whims for that place. Not to many areas allow circus animals on private property, as in none. U.S anyway.
So who really is to blame? The doctors that perscibed it or the unlimited funds that enticed whomever to get it for him? As far as I'm concerned the man continues to reek havoc on people even after his death, who knows how many people will go to jail over his drug habit. Maybe even a doctor who only did it that one time for Wacko just because of the money.
Plenty of blame to go around, but it never would have happened had he not asked for it in the first place.
As far as drugs go, anything is obtainable anytime, anywhere on the planet as long as the money is right and you ask the right people.

Doctors should be held to a higher standard because they hold people's lives in their hands. Crooked doctors need to be imprisoned and have their licenses permanently revoked. And if he couldn't obtain all those drugs in the first place, he wouldn't have become addicted in the first place.

Your absolutly right DYasha, if they were not available it wouldnt be a problem. In reality doctors are held to a higher standard, always have been, that however isnt the real issue. The issue is the falibility of the human condition, look at it this way...
you can pass all the laws you want and make all the keys for locks you want and there will still be drugs on the black market, there will always be the greedy person who breaks the law and makes them available, you cant stop that. There is no solution that is absolute.
The law recognizes this and realizes that both the user and the dealer are breaking the law. The user is creating the market for the dealer to sell.
The liberal fix is to lock them down and make them unreachable, the conservative fix is to educate and to create a void in the maket where as there are no users though education. The realization that you are responsible for yourself versus the goverment taking care of the idiots who cant do it for themselves, (more laws)
Because neither one works then both have to be employed, which is actually the system we have today. Its not perfect but it is all that we have. It is good that we try and it is required of our society to police the situation, but no matter how hard you try there will always be someone who wants to make money or someone who want to spend it to circumvent the law. MJ is guilty of creating the market, soon we will know who sold it to him I have no doubt.

With illegal drugs, someone could make them in their basement but not pharmaceutical drugs. They can only get them through official channels. That is why it could be controlled a lot easier than illicit drugs. And it is a lot easier to track who gave Michael those drugs.

If he had been put in jail for sleeping in the same bed as little boys then he would still be alive.... Even if he didn't touch them its still totally wrong.

Sleeping in the same bed as boys is gross, but I honestly don't think he actually touched them in an inappropriate way. He acted like a big kid, but a grown man doing those things with a 12 year old is mighty creepy. Creepy, but I just don't think he did anything illegal (as far as the sleepovers are concerned).

The man was deprived of his ****hood which explains why he likes hanging out with boys. When he acquired neverland out of his protest to his dad, he sorrounded himself with ki-ds. He probably longed of playing in the streets with other k-ids, when he was young, but he had rehearsals and recordings to do. He may have gone too far with fulfilling a ****hood dream and became an obsession for him as an adult. As far as touching them, I agree with you. He just wanted the case against him be totally closed and he had to pay millions, he had them at the time anyway.

I liked his music, back in the day, but the way people are carrying on about him you think he was a Nobel Prize winner or something. It was the same with Princess Diana. She wasn't anything special and people hated her a week before she died. Now, she's remembered as being the People's Princess when she was rather despised before her death. Yes, she did some charity work, which is good, but what other job did she have?

What is amazing to me is that, now that he died, people give a shit about him. The week before his death, how many times did you think about him? Did anyone say what a wonderful performer he was? The last few years no one had anything good to say about him and now they are almost making him a saint. I better stop now before I hurt someone's feelings and they ban me.
