Not to speak ill of the dead, agree Jackson was a fantastic 'entertainer' not a song writer. Kudos goes to Quincy Jones/CBS records camp for getting together with song writers who propelled Jackson to his fame.

Back in the mid/late 80s I attended his concert at the Aintree (racecourse) in Liverpool UK. He never said 'Hi' to all his fans who had been en place four hours before. He never thanked them for attending at the end of the concert. He lost respect in my eyes on that day.

$$$$$$ That's all he cared for.

Very few musicians actually perform stuff they wrote, so don't knock him for that, and you're still holding a grudge from 20 years ago because he didn't personally thank everyone in the audience? And Quincy Jones benefited considerably because Michael Jackson performed his songs and not Lionel Richie or some other second tier singer.

Thanks for the defense, DYasha.
You gotta know that english isn't my native tongue so the harder
it is to say what's really on my mind.

I mean I never said that I was a fan of everything he did
but...
he worked very hard for the things he had and he really
reached alot, no matter who helped him and who not to
become what he was/is. Nobody in this world could make
it without help, you know....

It's easy to tell bad things about someone, I know...
You like to talk shit about people who just died or make
jokes about them? What does that make you, huh? Good?
You not good. You just know how to hide...

In the early 80s he had Quincy Jones hovering over him which sort of tells where the memorable music was coming from.

If you thought he was a freak by the time he hit 50 imagine what he might've been like if he got to 60 or 70 or more.

He probably hasn't eaten very well over the years and now that went gone back to rehersing for a new set of live shows which would have to include a lot of very strenuous dancing it was probably just too much for his heart. He was soon to be 51 trying to do a physical activity that would be a major workout for someone in their early 20s. Something was likely to give and it did.

I couldn't agree more. The passage of time was not kind to Jackson-- who was always much more of a performer than a musician. There were great soul musicians whose early death deprived us of amazing music: Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding . . . every one of those guys would still be doing something musical today, if they were living.

Jackson hadn't actually made any music in a very long time.

Wasnt "walking freak show" coined after him? He would have deserved it. After he started mutilating and bleaching himself he was an imediate cue to pick up the remote when any news of him arose. I wont even get into the other well known allegations. I never cared for his style of music so he never really meant anything to me. To be honest I despised it. I wouldnt have attended one of his concerts if it was free and across my street. I just hope the grand freak finale will pass quickly with the media.

I wouldn't imagine that will happen. He's popular in every part of the globe and he must have some unreleased material or remastered albums that will get published.

I think he would have the same impact in his death as Elvis has had.

I have to say I never did like Michael Jackson, the person, mostly because of his portrayal in the press. I didn't even like most of his music although some of it was beyond great. He will, regardless of what I think, be the King of Pop just as Elvis is known as the King of Rock. To his family, friends and fans I can only I wish condolences.

Yeah, he became a freak show but you can't knock him for not being a songwriter. So? Quincy Jones can't sing or dance. It doesn't detract from his accomplishments. Look at performers today and most can't sing and dance at the same time. They look like they are trying to remember each step instead of dancing. And what amazes me is that Michael Jackson wasn't convicted of anything, but Mike Tyson was, yet people seem to have more sympathy towards Tyson. Uh, what ever happened to innocent until proven guilty in a court of law?

Two factors are at play, most of us know the legal system is in bad shape. Generally if you have money you can get off. Second, the feel of it is wrong, very wrong. It wasnt just the fact that he was accused, it was the things he said and how he acted. The video of him explaining how he takes little boys to bed and feeds them milk and cookies was really creepy.
I liked Wacko Jacko up until that point and I think most were behind him too. After that and the twenty million dollar pay out I began to be sickend by him, and still do. In my mind he died along time ago...
and I dont like Tyson either...

I didn't say he was normal by any stretch of the imagination, but he wasn't found guilty in a court of law. We know what Mike Tyson did, but we don't know what, if anything, Michael Jackson did.

.......he's left a legacy of music, spanning over two generations, and a debt of over 500 million dollars, left for his estate to clean up.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Like Elvis, he's worth more dead than alive -- Someone will come along and turn his Wonderland into a theme park - selling millions of cheap souvenirs to Asian tourists -- with tourist guides, giving peeks of his bedroom where the alleged crimes took place.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

what is most frustrating is the media - less than decade ago, they were ready to lynch him, like a scene from the film Frankenstein, chasing "Wack Jacko" up the cliff with torches in hand and bloodhounds on his heels. Now, they report like all has been forgotten.

In my humble opinion.. based on talking with friends and work collegues... because of his outlandish behaviour... he'd really died many years ago... everytime we saw him in later life we'd "aww" and "Ohh what a shame" and a mourned a little about the handsome young lad with the great voice, catchy tunes and great dancing we all appreciated. It was death by a thousand cuts.... by the time he actually died... we were already over it!

I am reminded of what happened with Princess Diana. A week before her death, she was hated by most people. Then she dies and suddenly she's the "People's Princess". Since when?

Exactly.
I for once loved Michael Jackson's music from the 80s. Off the wall, Thriller, Bad and even dangerous will always be among my favorite even though I am more of a Metal listener. He was always talented and that can't denied, I don't think anyone will ever be able to top his performances on-screen. He had a special magic even if it wasn't all devised by him the fact that he could pull it off its worthy of admiration.
Yeah he was a freak and his face was all cut up and he probably was a **** molester but in the latter the justice system of the US is at fault because you can buy and charm your way through the system.

I will always admire him as a performance but will always feel sorry for him as a person.

I loved Michael as a member of the Jackson 5, when I was a k-i-d , we were both born the same year. As i grew up, I still enjoyed his music, danced to it as a young man in the 70's and 80's. I also began to have a liking to rock and psychedelia, more like a late boomer hippie so I kinda drifted away from pop and disco. The late 70's was actually my turning point but every now and then I still hear his songs on the radio and me and the other potheads I call friends would give a little dance to the beat of Billy Jean.

Anyway, his death is a shocker and like I said I am his age which makes me more worried about my health. I better start taking care of myself, quit smoking and go back to exercise. As for Michael, he will be remembered by everyone who likes music.

Funny how censorship in here works
