No way Mr. Wacky White-Meat, go ahead and make your claim.
No bones about it, she doesn't really bother me very much. Except when she's singing.
Even though my dislike for much of the 80s is well known, I'm still gonna get me some shuga while the gettin's good.
And I HAVE to do #10.
3. Rolling Stones - Waiting on a Friend
8. Van Halen - Panama. Uhhh, not to be confused with "Panama Red", by New Riders of the Purple Sage.
Yeah, we're runnin' a little bit hot tonight
I can barely see the road from the heat comin' off...
9. Bangles - that sappy
Eternal Flame song. Hey, have I mentioned that I met Susanna Hoffs? Oh, I've mentioned it twice already?
10. Black Sabbath - Born Again. At that point, RJDio had left the band, and Mr. Ian Gillan was doing the vocals for BS. You know, Ian Gillan the ex-lead singer of Deep Purple ... Ian Gillan who was the original Jesus Christ on the first studio album for the musical Jesus Christ Superstar in 1970 (and who was offerred the lead in the famous 1973 movie but got shot down when he wanted his whole Deep Purple band to get paid for time missed, and the role thankfully went to the
American Ted Neeley who had done the role on Broadway and in L.A.) ... Ian Gillan who had tried a few solo bands and flopped. Then with Black Sabbath, he recorded that one album Born Again in 1983 -- you know, the one with the devil baby thing on the cover -- and which had such "emotionally and spiritually uplifting" songs like Disturbing the Priest, Zero the Hero, and that all-time classic: Digital Bitch.
Then again, that instrumental song (second song, name escapes me) was kinda interesting in a "gee let's go desecrate a church" kinda way.
JK, it wasn't that bad, kinda moody and spacey, actually.
So yeah in my extremely deranged brain, when I hear any part of that Black Sabbath album, it makes me think of Ian Gillan which makes me think of Jesus. That's pretty fucked up.
Always liked the pom Murray Head, who did Judas on that JCS album and then had a few hits as a soloist in the UK. His biggest hit was of course "One Night In Bangkok" in
1984 (from the show Chess). And of course his brother Anthony was on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Judas in the movie version of JCS was played by Carl Anderson (RIP), who replaced Ben Vereen on Broadway and then played the role in the movie, despite thousands of death threats for being black and in that movie. You know, Carl Anderson who had a big hit in
1986 with "Friends and Lovers", a duet with Gloria Loring. See, all that 1980s stuff.
Wow, this is really a way out there tangent, even for me, but I'm going to finish it by saying that in the movie version of JCS, the role of Peter was played by the VERY FAMOUS pRon star and director/producer
Paul Thomas. Good looks, a big dick, and my boy could sing well too. Wow. I mean, there are so very few of us in the world, after all.
#2 is right on the tip of my brain, argh. One hit wonder in the US. Sheidt. Mmmmph. Grrrrrr.
