Wow, its...like...you're...in...my...head, SD. Except - Sky is #8, not #7.

I'll reveal another one. Since "Yodeling" (or whistling, or nonsensical babbling) does NOT count as a lyric, #2 is Hocus Pocus by Focus.

Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

So here's the current list:

1. Hot Tuna - The Water Song
2. Focus - Hocus Pocus
3.
4. The Shadows - Apache (SD)
5.
6.
7.
8. Sky - Toccata (SD)
9.
10.

Any more brave souls out there?

How about Carlos Santana - Europa, maybe #10?

Led Zepplin - Moby Dick, may not be famous, but it's one hell of a drum solo. Very Happy

The theme song from Hawaii Five O, or from Miami Vice??? Laughing Laughing

Yikes, Ozzy's in my head too! Shocked But, ahem, RM doesn't do TV theme songs. But good on ya for Santana's Europa and the CLASSIC Moby Dick by Led Zep. And since when is it not famous???? Shocked Shocked Shit, LZ II was a permanent fixture on RM's turntable while growing up. Wink

Awesome, dude ... Rush's YYZ from Moving Pictures is right, speaking of great drum solos. Wink And you even got the number correct. Cool If there's anyone out there who doesn't think that Neil Peart was/is the greatest drummer who ever lived, well, get yerself another think!

Apologies to Keith Moon, who is currently the best drummer on the BIG stage up in the sky. And apologies to Gnome, if he reads this, as he actually is the best dang drummer in the universe. Very Happy

Okay, at this rate, we might just have to do a second set! Rolling Eyes Laughing

1. Hot Tuna - The Water Song
2. Focus - Hocus Pocus
3. Rush - YYZ (melmac)
4. The Shadows - Apache (SD)
5.
6. Led Zeppelin - Moby Dick (Ozzy)
7.
8. Sky - Toccata (SD)
9.
10. Santana - Europa (Ozzy)

Yes, Neil is the greatest rock drummer there ever was Very Happy
But on the whole, the _group_ is the best ever, as far as I'm concerned. 38 years (I think) since they got together, and 33 years since their first album (I think Alex and Geddy were in high school together)

So I guess at this point I need to spoil my "name the song" post above

A refuge for the coming night
A future of eternal light
No one gets to their heaven without a fight

It's from Rush's (of course) latest album "Snakes and Arrows" album released May 1, the second song on the album called Armor and Sword

Fire on High - ELO How could I forget that one?!?!?

When I was you-nger and worked at an amusement park, they had a ride called The Astrosphere, and that was the only song ever played for that ride. I must have heard it over 1,000 times during the summer months.

Interstellar Overdrive - Pink Floyd heard this one earlier today, so it's kinda, sorta cheating, as I wouldn't of thought of it if it wasn't on XM radio.

There's Eruption from Van Halen, but you never hear that one on the radio without "You Really Got Me", so I don't think that would qualify.

And then of course you have Yngwie Malmsteen, who has a boatload of instrumentals. Cool

Shit. Was this by chance in central New Jersey? Reason I ask is because I remember going to a certain park in NJ as a yung'un (I grew up in near Phila) ... and they had this ride that played that song over and over ... and no, I'm not joking, I'm serious. Shocked

So of course it is included in the set! Idea

Good on Pink Floyd. I definitely included that because not only is it like 10 minutes long, not only does it illuminate Syd as an insane genius, but most importantly its from Piper at the Gates of Dawn, which is the same album we have to thank for the one, the incredible, Mr. Grimble Krumble himself, Gnomus Maximus. He would be doing cartwheels if he saw you mentioning this song, but alas, I don't think he ventures into the GC section too often...

Yes, personally I count Eruption as part of the same song, especially since its only like 1 1/2 minutes long and all of my instrumentals have to be, uhhh, at least 2 minutes, yeah, that's it. Way the by, Ice Cream Man was the best song from that album IMRO, though it was never a big hit.

Shocked I never include songs from people whose names I can't pronounce! Cool

So here's the penultimate list:

1. Hot Tuna - The Water Song
2. Focus - Hocus Pocus
3. Rush - YYZ (melmac)
4. The Shadows - Apache (SD)
5. Pink Floyd - Interstellar Overdrive (Ozzy)
6. Led Zeppelin - Moby Dick (Ozzy)
7. ELO - Fire on High (Ozzy)
8. Sky - Toccata (SD)
9.
10. Santana - Europa (Ozzy)

Only one left! And guess what? It has something to do with a famous monster! A famous monster built by a doctor! With electrodes sticking out of his friggin' neck!! Shocked Any guesses, hmmmm?? Laughing Laughing

Hmmm. Have to admit that they fell out of favor with me in the mid-80s with Power Windows and Grace under Pressure -- I wished they wouldn't have tried to use some of that crappy mid-80s technology. I came back to them in the early 90s with Roll the Bones and Counterparts, but honestly, while still incredibly talented, I thought they were pretty done. E.g. Geddy's voice was straining, and so on.

Just my ramblin' opinion now, don't be hatin'. Cool

Of course, from '74 to '82 ... from their debut (my God "Working Man" was incredible) to Signals, oh yeeeeeaaaahhhhh. And their musical talent for a trio was unparalleled. I think I spent like an hour one day just trying to figure out the time signature changes in La Villa Strangiato. Embarassed

Honestly didn't know they were still going, and wow just released a new album, eh? They must be in their mid-50s now, hmmmm. Maybe I'll give that there SnA a little listen, to see what's up. Very Happy Thanks for the recommendation.
