Name or no name, she is simply beautiful. Thanks for taking the time to put these up. I believe you have the beginnings for a whole new thread here 'Bob.

I used to post a lot of .gif, but they just don't "sing" unless you post them full-size so they animate. When you put more than a few 2 - 3MB files on a single page people begin having problems viewing them. When you get 10 or more on a page people have problems with their computers locking up.

Even if you can view them, it's hard to post a reply when there are several full-size .gif on a page. I had to post on one thread in General Mayhem after the forum shut down their "pro" content image sub-forum over copyright concerns. The "official" .gif thread got so screwed up with too many .gif on one page that I started another "unofficial" thread and begged people to follow my posting guidelines if they posted on it.

I had such a hard time posting on my own thread I began making a few posts on a thread I started in the moderator's forum and then moving the posts five at a time onto the .gif thread in General Mayhem. The thread had thousands of views and an occasional reply every few pages. I wouldn't have minded sparse replies in a content forum, but the post whores in General Mayhem wouldn't even reply on the thread, although they viewed it every time I posted.

After I quit moderating I stopped posting on the thread.

This sure is a quiet forum.

I suppose that would be bound to happen. I hadn't thought about that. The ones you have posted are nice and greatly appreciated.

The more I think about billyellis's new list, I think that bonus one was from The Little Mermaid, the director's cut.

Laughing Now THAT was funny! Made me laugh out loud. Cool If only...

But it WAS from a movie. I actually thought someone would recognize it right away because it was so shocking when it started playing during an otherwise very quiet and reserved storyline.

I remember a big stink about an actress cutting off her long hair, but she was on a show I'd never watched...
Now to the list. Don't have much yet.
1. Da Beach Boys- Baby Shut her down (that's not quite right, but it's something like that.
3. The Beatles- Free as a Bird
4. The Beatles- No idea of the title.
8. Bon Jovi- ? This'n I should know

I think the show was called "Felicity" and was on one of the now-defunct new networks WB or the Paramount one. I didn't watch it myself, but I remember the fuss when she went from hot to...not so much without getting permission from the show first. 99% of women are unattractive with short hair. She was definitely in the majority. Wink

1. Beach Boys - Shut Down Close enough.
3. Beatles - Free as a Bird
4. Beatles - That much is correct, and the 'theme' of sorts should be manifest as a result. Quite a catchy tune, by the bye, and also in a recent film. The song title is a play on words, and the song itself unusually ends on a major 7th.
8. Bon Jovi - Correct. 20 years later a little cheesy, perhaps, but at the time it was pretty popular with my age group. Smile

OK, that makes sense. I just couldn't find "keri russell" anywhere in the post and was a bit confused by your reply. Cool

9 - Evanescence - Hello

10 - Evanescence - Good Enough

Nicely done, sir_darkstar and tzman. #2 and the Bonus were not solved, but I am going to put this one to bed, happy to have stumped the panel with non-Nirvana lyrics. Smile

1. Beach Boys - Shut Down (TZM)
Declining numbers at an even rate
At the count of one we both accelerate
My stingray is light the slicks are starting to spin
But the 413's really digging in

2. Beach Boys - Surf's Up
The glass was raised, the fired rose
The fullness of the wine, the dim last toasting
While at port adieu or die
A choke of grief heart hardened I
Beyond belief a broken man too tough to cry

Off the unreleased "Smile" which was supposed to be the followup to "Pet Sounds." I first heard a piece of it as the opening music to a BB documentary in the 90's, and it is easily found now through the miracle of the internet.

3. Beatles - Free As A Bird (TZM)
Whatever happened to the life that we once knew
Can we really live without each other
Where did we lose the touch
That seemed to mean so much

4. Beatles - It Won't Be Long (SDS) (tzm)
Since you left me, I'm so alone
Now you're coming, you're coming on home
I'll be good like I know I should
You're coming home, you're coming home

5. Simon & Garfunkel - Hazy Shade Of Winter (SDS)
Seasons change with the scenery
Weaving time in a tapestry
Won't you stop and remember me
At any convenient time?

6. Simon & Garfunkel - For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her (SDS)
And when I woke
And felt you warm and near
I kissed your honey hair
With my grateful tears

7. Bon Jovi - Runaway (SDS)
A different line every night guaranteed to blow your mind
See you out on the streets, call me for a wild time
So you sit home alone 'cause there's nothing left that you can do
There's only pictures hung in the shadows left there to look at you

8. Bon Jovi - Never Say Goodbye (SDS) (tzm)
Remember days of skipping school
Racing cars and being cool
With a six pack and the radio
We didn't need no place to go

9. Evanescence - Hello (SDS)
Playground school bell rings again
Rain clouds come to play again
Has no one told you shes not breathing
Hello I am your mind giving you someone to talk to

10. Evanescence - Good Enough (SDS)
Under your spell again
I can't say no to you
crave my heart and its bleeding in your hand
I can't say no to you

Bonus. Peaches - Fuck The Pain Away
Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me,
Callin me, all the time like Blondie
Check out my chrissy behind
It's fine all of the time

Anyone who saw "Lost In Translation" will remember this one. When Bill Murray was supposed to meet up with Scarlett Johansson and ends up in a strip joint, this is the song that comes on as the strippers do their thing. I have this on my mp3 player, but it's not one you can blast from the car speakers when driving through a school zone. Laughing

No theme per se, but like a chubby chaser, I have a thing for pears. Or "pairs." I had some feelings of inadequacy after the nice theme from tzman, so I went with a sampler across the decades with songs in pairs, hopefully with one that was easily recognizable and one less so for each group.

Well, you know what that means, don't you? It means you have good taste in music! Laughing As the years went by and Nirvana blew up the hair bands, it was kind of hard to admit liking Bon Jovi any more (my favorite pre-grunge band), but I always thought they were a cut above the rest of the hair bands musically, and I think their longevity has proven that to be true at this point. That was another well balanced batch. You mentioned a theme of sorts so when I got The Beach Boys, the Beatles, and Bon Jovi, I was going over all the other B band stuff I could think of. Didn't lead anywhere. Rolling Eyes
Someone else ready for a turn?

PS Over on the movie quote thread, I have one of the all time classic lines. (Unless you're one of those people who expect unrealistic standards from your cinema...like talent.)
That was another entertaining thread that's about to die off.

Oops. Total coincidence. All apologies. The 'theme' was that they were in pairs. But I like your train of thought. I could see a good theme being all songs starting with the same letter or the same word...

Hmm...I start posting here, and the thread dies. Crying or Very sad

If I promise to take my bad attitude and my Nirvana and go home, will you all come back to this thread? Embarassed

Over and out. You may now move about the cabin. Wink

You could post the same Nirvana songs again, and I still wouldn't get them.

I definitely haven't got a list. At least not yet.

Not much happens around here.

I have to second what Bob said too; I wouldn't know their stuff if I was swimming in it. Like THAT'S gonna make you feel better.
But, on the plus side, you have me playing catch up with their stuff and listening to more than I ever have.

One of the finest times in music history, the 80's, and what could be better then the legendary rock god's of that time. A time of big hair, spandex and screaming guitars. Torn jeans, a bannana down the front of the pants and even a touch of glam. Yes the theme is 80's hard rockers.

1 - I scream my heart out, just to make a dime
And with that dime I bought your love
But now I've changed my mind

2 - Rise up! gather round
Rock this place to the ground
Burn it up lets go for broke
Watch the night go up in smoke

3 - I walk these streets, a loaded six string on my back
I play for keeps, cause I might not make it back
I been everywhere, still Im standing tall
Ive seen a million faces an Ive rocked them all

4 - I sit here on the stairs
'Cause I'd rather be alone
If I can't have you right now
I'll wait, dear

5 - Soldier blue on the barren wastes
Hunting and killing their game
**** the women and wasting the men
The only good indians are tame

6 - I just can't pretend no more,
I keep runnin' out of lies
Lovin' you is killin' me inside

7 - Come a little closer,
so I can look you in your eyes
So I can see what I been missing,
so I can see through the disguise

8 - Though its been a while now
I can still feel so much pain
Like a knife that cuts you the wound heals
But the scar, that scar remains

9 - Friday night and I need a fight
My motorcycle and a switchblade knife
Handful of grease in my hair feels right
But what I need to make me tight are

10 - And I know, baby, just how you feel.
Youve got to roll with the punches to get to whats real

Bonus

11 - Some time in the night
When you're feeling the cold
Take a look at the sky above you
Those are faces in the light
If the story were told
They are calling you, calling you

I believe #3 is a Bon Jovi song, Dead or Alive or something like that. I never paid much attention to them so I'm not sure of the title and I'm too lazy to look it up. But then again, it's just as likely something else.

Great googley moogley, SDS. Now you're starting to freak me out. Enough so that I have to jump back in one more time (last time, I promise), because the first song on your list is ironically one of the first rock songs I remember hearing. I think I have mentioned Slippery When Wet previously as my full blown awakening to music in 1984, but before then or around the same time I remember 3 songs from the radio: What I Like About You (Romantics), Gloria (Laura Branigan), and Nobody's Fool by Cinderella.

Well now you have me feeling anxious that you won't be into it and then will be pissed that you wasted your time. Sad I sort of wonder how much of their whole explosion onto the scene had to do with the climate at the time, and how well that whole mood/feeling stands up over time as the culture has changed several times since then... It will always be music that speaks to me because of where I was in my life at that time, but I would never shove any music down anyone's throat (more than I already have here Laughing ) because music is such an intensely personal thing. So here's hoping you find something new that you like...but don't waste too much time if it doesn't do anything for you. Wink
