Seems Imagevenue is starting to increase the number of times your opening a picture takes you to an advertisement popup - sometimes even multiple popups. Well... when it came to those popups locking up my browser and crashing it, I decided enough was enough - time to shop for a new host.
So, rather than pick one at random, I'm asking the people who use them most what their favorites are - maybe with a few reasons why they're so good...

Totally agree,sooo annoying.

I like 'imagebam' these days, easy to use,you don't need to register if you don't want to,so far haven't had any problems with it.

A nice heads up - but I'm on several forums, one of which uses Imagebam for their internal host - one of the most unreliable hosts if ever there was one. So I'm definitely looking for a decent replacement here.

Even that, IV is my preferred hoster ... I don't know of any other free hoster that has been able to maintain pictures for several years ... or maintain themselves in business that long ... Laughing Laughing

My advice: use any of the various bulk downloaders to get the pics hosted at IV, and in the case of individual pics you want to open, make a first try ... if you see the countdown at top left of the screen, close immediately and reopen again ... you will see the pic without the annoying popup.

Yeah - I figured that out too - but I guess I'm looking for something a little less "labor intensive". Smile

That is true. Imagevenue is on the dark side now. All these ads and stuff. Imagebam is much better.

Agree , you even get popups when you're trying to maximize the image nowadays - very annoying! Evil or Very Mad

Yeah, imagevenue changed the sides and is on the dark side.

There is a discussion in the mods section to ban imagevenue, so it would be fine if you could use one of the other image hosting sites from the list in future:

Arrow Permitted File Hosts, Image Hosts and Link Protectors

In todays world hosting is so cheap that they should give very unobstructive ads. But greed is something that everyone has. Sad

Agreed, every time I visit it's a 5 second wait and when I click to resize the image I get a pop up. First RS pulls their garbage, now IV is acting up. These guys are making sharing vids real work.

Ads around the picture is one thing, but popups when you want to enlarge the pic is the pest. But that's not the only reason i don't use IV anymore. Even newer pics took up to 10 seconds to load or failed at all.
I then tried pucturedumper but they use an agecheck and sometimes have popups too.
I like Imagebam cause the thumbs are a bit larger than on IV and i never had to wait to see the pics. But that may depend on the country you click from.

So what you mean with "unreliable", RagingBuddhist? Do you have problems with imagebam. It works fine for me in Germany, but it should work fine for other countries too, otherwise it's useless.
