Here is the difference b/w Yankees fans and Red Sox fans. If the shoe were on the other foot, Red Sox fans would be horribly embarassed and would completely disown such a crazed lunatic.
Yet at this very moment you can be sure that in several bars in the Bronx there are cheers and toasts being offered up to this "woman" (I use the term lightly since she shows no signs of being an actual human being).
Who knows why Yankees fans are such morons? I guess it must have something to do with the lack of success as a franchise, and the fact that a whole generation of little New Yorkers are growing up not knowing what it is like to have the Spankees win anything.
Anyway, I thought I would start a thread that was sure to fuel a lot of hatred and animosity and perhaps set a record for flaming.
Amigo, you may want to re-think your words and wording. I'm trying to be constructive here, by the way.
If you don't care, you don't care, fine. But it is hard to tell if you're joking or not. Some of my good friends in here and in RL are Yankees fans ... do you realize how you've insulted them? Anyway ...
1. The crowd here at FP is very international, and most (but not all) non-Americans will have no idea what you're talking about. Baseball is in fact my fa
vorite sport (and yes I'm American), but I also love the multi-cultural and international flav
our of this forum.
2. I'm not a Yankees fan - I'm a National League guy, actually - but I do know that "recently" they were World Champions in 1996, 1998, 1999, & 2000, they won the American League Pennant in 2001 and 2003 after that, and after that they've still won the AL Eastern Division in 2004, 2005, and 2006 (2002, also). They've made the Playoffs every year since the strike-shortened year of 1994 -- that's the last 13 years in a row, which is pretty freakin' amazing given that none of the other
31 teams in the Major Leagues have a streak longer than "1".
Your "lack of success as a franchise" comment was silly, and your "generational" statement was even more ridiculous. Were you joking? Couldn't tell. Oh, and respect where respect is due, to a very successful franchise.
3. The actions of one drunk and disturbed woman in New Hampshire in no way reflect anything whatsoever about the New York Yankee organization, or their fans in general. Your "assumption" about bars and fans anywhere is again, quite ridiculous. Sorry dude.
4. If this thread ends up "fueling lots of hatred and animosity and sets a record for flaming", you'll be lucky to not get a warning if you participate. Of course, if you don't participate than you're just a flame-starter, which is only one rung above the white stuff that accumulates around your mouth when you're really thirsty (oh god, I just referenced Con Air, I need another drink, stat).
But really, from my experience here at FP, why waste time arguing and being negative? There are like "Terabytes" (hah) of awesome pRon just waiting to be found.
But whatever, that's all I'll say ... carry on.
