With Spybot, Firefox + Adblock Plus, I automatically filter out a lot of bad things and didn't even get a message about Glowfoto. Another poster was using it & it seemed good. I pretty much stick to Imagevenue, even though it also has some bad features for those without the filters.

zUpload and rapidupload don't give me a link after I finish an upload & hasn't responded to my email that I sent 2 weeks ago.

I use Rapidupload frequently, and never had a problem getting the link. Click on History, scroll to the file you uploaded, then on the right it says "Details!" click on that and it gives you the download link, file info, and delete link.

I am a premium member of Rapidshare and have great luck downloading from there with speeds sometimes up to 400KB d/l. However, I absolutely HATE uploading (or trying I should say) to RS. It took me 4 hours to upload a 98MB file and then it gave me no link so I couldn't find it. I have not tried U/L to megashare but think I will give it a try. I have stuff I would like to share but as of right now, I am through trying to use RS for U/L.

BTW I could mail the CDs to someone and they could U/L if they have success with RS if that is better for the group/users.

I just want to be a good user of this great site. Thanks for making it all happen.

Moderators,

there is plenty of useful information here and thank you all for it. But being new to this at times we tend to make mistakes. But I am sure that you all will guide the new guys the right.

Please keep it up.

Thanks again for this site. Wink

Are there any acceptable link protectors that use Optical Character Recognition (OCR)? It is best for protecting against automated link harvesting since it requires the user to type in text to access the links. I don't feel very confident with these link protectors that only require the link to be clicked on a few times. OCR link protection would have made it very difficult for someone to delete thousands of links like they did at the end of last year.

Mediafire
File Size Limit: 100MB / Download Limit: ??
File Life: ??
http://www.mediafire.com/

Is on banned list now as it causes problems for people who don't have Adblock & Spyware protection. Then again, you shouldn't be searching for porn without it.

It throws an ad in my face in IE7 and the only way past is to click a link which in theory earns somebody something per each and every click on that ad that blocks my view. For that reason I advise you to not use that site in future.

I am curious why everyone has seem to settled on rapidshare when mediafire lets you do larger files. Am I missing something?

Hi ohyea.
The crux of the matter why most people use RS is just the heavy use of RS.
I by myself have a premium account of RS, so I can dl. more stuff and haven't to wait til the delay time ends.
Why should I use megaupload, megarotic, or mediafire and even pay for it (if I want to get benefits from my uploads), if most people with a RS account whine that I should upload to RS as well (have seen it on other boards)?!?

I've used megaupload for a while and it seems fine, but can't bet the count of RS downloads I got the same time for the same file.

Mediafire was added to the banned hosting sites, cause some members reported problems with it.

By the way are you sure mediafire allows more than 100 MB (see picture).
"...MediaFire currently has a file size limit of 100MB because bandwidth for serving downloads is the most expensive part of running a file hosting service...."

If you want to upload larger files try megaupload, current file size limit 500 MB Wink

Before I got a premium RS account, I too had problems uploading, but with the rapidupload program, my upload speed is one tenth my download speed (350 Kb/sec down, 35 Kb/sec up), which is okay with me. I just let it run when I'm not doing something, or at night while I'm sleeping. If I need lots of RAM for something, then I shut it down and it automatically picks up where it left off when I reactivate it.

Firstly that link actually redirects to a redirector, and the redirector points to a group of about ten bogus fly-by-night hosting entities with Rapidshare`s name added to their list of crap sites to make it less obvious that its actually a list of phoney, fly-by-night operators out to make a buck from providing essentially no service at all.

Anyway, the answer is no it is not allowed, I just added it to the banned list yesterday, actually. But thanks for checking first, which some people dont bother doing.

To view all your uploaded files and their links, just log in to your premium user page. Go to the RS site and select Premium zone from the top menu.
