What is kinda making me worry is that I see no one is complaining or doing serious debating??! Besides here, the other place where you barely see a hint of this coming is in the announcement section?! and it wasn't even announced it was just two words "rapidshare - banned" linked from a "general chat" section? I hope is honest mistake and they will rectify it soon.........if not I think this is going to be a fatal blow to the forum.

If this is true I can't post here any longer because I have premium accounts only at rs and h0tfile. Won't buy another one. It's too much money.

Hi GS.

I have removed rapídshare from the word censor.
It's the wrong way of introducing a change.
Especially since Rapid is, and has been, the major fileservice utilised in the forum for a long time.
As long as members and moderators are seeing the allowed hostlist in the Rules section, those hosters has to be allowed and not being censored out.

Any change to the list, in terms of removing hosts, is to make an Announcement in which a set date for the change is stipulated.
The transition period has to be long, not just one week.
Information should first be conveyed to the moderators and then to the members.

I intend to agree with what many members have expressed in various threads.
The way things are done will kill the forum.
At least many of the current big contributors will just stop posting.

The way changes are done also creates confusion and frustration amongst the moderators who doesn't know which leg to stand on.

I have actually started to seriously consider if I want to stay part of this.

thanks svinto for this mail to GS. I couldn't agree more with you. I think you spoke a lot of people here out of their minds.

I do agree with svinto

We can consider outstanding changes at RS as a bad way to keep their users (especially the paying ones, including me, 'cause I never used my RS points), but should we be as unfair as they are? It's ok, we all (I mean posters and mods) have been very disappointed when knowing the new RS conditions, but we can consider too that, for many RS users, it's only a tool to download their files, and, to be sincere, it's a very comfortable one... OK, files disappeared almost as fast as they appear but... we all know that these files are (for most of them) copyrighted... The game is: "How to keep our links alive the most longer?"... I had tried oron a few time ago... My files have been reported almost as fast as it was for RS...
My point of view is: "Let's keep users make their own choice between RS, oron or others file hosts that proved their capacities to be efficient as file downloaders. If, in the future, RS doesn't give the attended results or change its politics, we'll see..."
If RS isn't the "politically correct" file host that they, 'till now, used to be, they probably come back to a better "user chart", let's give them a chance, and, most important, let's keep our posters and users free to choose between oron, RS and the other file hosts that have been allowed 'till now....

You still want to give RS a chance, WAW
They seem to forget who made there company big.
Now it's time we turn or backs on them.

Maybe that's my Christian education, "give the other cheek..."
I don't want to give RS another chance, but I'm used to live in a democratic country, and it looks like democracy has not had its chance here... What I mean is: One filehost means FOP's death... Let's the poster make their own choices, just let's prohibit filehosts non allowed 'till here (and for most of them, we know why) and... Maybe in one year, we'll still be able to discuss here...
I suppose that RS will reconsider its rules, because, just as FOP, they'll die too.

In the current course of events RS will disaappear as of their own choosing. I understand the bad feelings of the users for the changes. As some of us experienced, RS did terminate many large accounts without notice before changing their rulez.

As many others here, I have postponed uploading 'til better times. Be assured, the data is not lost, simply gone into cold-storage.

There will be new RS clones, some of which may well prove worthwhile. Until that time I shall only be uploading files upon request.

As to banning or allowing certain filehosts, I think that should be considered from the board managers, the uploaders and the downloaders point of view. I think we want all?

Voice of a downloader: I can't afford to buy accounts at multiple file download sites. Rapidshare has the largest coverage, and once that is not true anymore, the links will be dispersed among too many various file hosts and non of them will be worth the money, so I'll probably cancel rapidshare and spend the money on a news feed site, or whatever you call it. You know, like pictureview, or something like that.

I think it's time to read the writing on the wall. The days of getting everything for free on the internet are rapidly coming to an end.
Eventually even the filehosters will be **** to hand over all info about who uploads & downloads what from them. It may be months or even years down the road, but that's what it'll come to eventually.
