Shocked Confused

Is this really any better?

Yes, the new one (as now, maybe they change it again Wink) is better.
Unused traffic volume does not expire and you can buy more traffic, if you need it (no need to upgrade to another package).

1,000 Rapids = 9.95 EUR = round about 10 months RapidPro (99 Rapids/30 days) = 300 GB traffic volume

Use it only during "Happy Hour" and you'll get 3 TB traffic volume.

I guess the only question now is who will be uploading to rapidshare with the point incentive gone?

The previous offer was horrible and too complex ...

Now thats look good for me.

Some month i download 10gb and other 100gb

I dont have to pay for all my unused trafic (8euro per month).

Now for 1euro i can dowload 30gb per month.

If i want download 100gb one month i pay only 3euros

Thats really a good news for downloader

But thats bad for uploaders no more free download.

It seems these idiots were actually surprised to find out people were going to desert them in droves with their horrendously complicated & expensive previous system.

This new package actually seems reasonable value, although the download limit is rather restricted if you don't buy extra traffic, and of course the question is just who will be uploading content now that hosting costs uploaders money?

If...

...then that's not much money to keep an active upload/download account for the best part of the year. Very Happy

I'll just have to get used to the 60 day deletion thing again, as I don't think I'll be paying extra for protected file storage.

Still find it astonishing that they were clueless as to the likely popularity of their previous "offer"!

hmm.... I wonder how many "non-friendly" messages RS got before they decided to change the system again...
hundreds?... thousands? maybe tens of thousands? Rolling Eyes

Two points:

First, I don't think they got any unfriendly messages at all. They do not have a direct feedback, and I don't honestly think many people use support@rapidshit to complain. No... I guess they noticed that the upload traffic decreased by about 90%.
Second, the payment scheme wasn't the only thing they changed. The new interface changed a whole load of shit including the counting system and the filenames. The old filenames (even if uploading on the new interface using the 'old uploader' for multiple uploads as the new interface does not have a multiple uploader) have been changed to filename.html

For some browsers (Opera?) this can cause problems when downloading. Using the option 'save as' then deleting or replacing the .html with .rar then downloading should help this problem.

RS should get their shit together, or they will be off the face of the internet within a few months.

I hope they sacked the assholes who designed the scheme Wink We now just need to organise a group of friends who keep each others links alive once every 60 days Very Happy.

11,300 rapids at 99 rapids per month(30 days) gives you 114.141414141 months worth or 9.51 years. I wish I had that. Cool I have 1063 which give me about 10 months.

I think Rapidshare got scared from the Perfect 10 scandal even though they won the case.....I have been a very dedicated member of rapidshare...even before rapidshare.com came up and I was a member of rapidshare.de but I feel this new scheme where it doesnt reward the uploader at all is bogus and will cause their demise...long live megaupload

The main drawback of this new system are not costs of RS premium, could also be acceptable, but why one should pay now when there's nothing to download? Sad
In fact almost no one is loading files on RS now because there's no more some incentive!!!!! Evil or Very Mad

So...
In the end what rapidshare.com is trying to tell us is that they could care less for the traffic or stupid points we may get what they want is our money...
Great!

I think I will let all my files be deleted and then start migrating everything to other filesharing hosts.

My bottom line is:

I pay anyway, as I mostly leech, so I will still up on RS the few times I do. But: No secured files (who cares, 2 months old files are rarely DLed anyway), and no more membership if there are no ups any more. Simple as that.

Also, I will paralelly migrate to other hosters, a) because of upper incentives ( I never made enough points with RS to base my membership exclusively on them, but at least I could get a month or two extra every half year or so) and b) for safety purposes, as Panama and Dubai-based hosters won't let themselves be blackmailed into giving out IPs and names...
