... That was my exact title to the email I just sent this morning.

Why? Because I had one Rapidshare Collector's account that I was going to transfer the Free Rapidpoints & Premium points into their new system of "Rapids", just to see how this new system was going to handle.

So shockingly, but NOT surprisingly, I got this message when I tried to do just that:

"ERROR: Extensions not possible with collector's account"

Of course, Rapidshare FAILED to mention this rather important aspect to their new policy anywhere... so pretty much, the screwjob is complete. I basically have a Collector's account with quite anumber of Free Rapidpoints/Premium points that will go to dust after July 6th.

So much for holding out on Rapidshare and using their service in the future.

Stupid silly me. Thanks for that tidbit, Trilight. At least I'll still be able to maintain the RS files uploaded here for a few more months.

I'm quite disappointed too, the system changed too fast, and suddenly the points earned are somewhat useless.

However, in terms of the RS business case, the change makes perfectly sense. Why should someone be rewarded just by uploading something? How many users are there who never paied for a premium account but "earned" it? Does somebody has a claim for the Rapid Points? I don't think so.

Are there any other freehosters that reward you?

I don't know what to say, i always paid for RS as a downloader but from now i have a 1gb / day cap that really sucks. I'm happy that my premium account is going to die in the middle of july, i think i'll move to megaupload.

hmm ...how can you upload 500gb to your account without paying a big fee..this is annoying

The loss of the reward system is annoying.

On the other side, the new system may make your account lasts longer.

You can change your type of package on a daily basis. You have to download many stuff? Go to RapidBig and download a 200 Gb file, it will costs you 78 rapids for day. Finished downloading? Change back to RapidSmall and RS will deduce you 4 Rapids/day.

If you go on vacation, change to RapidSmall and your credits will last longer. Returned from holidays and have a bunch of stuff to download? So, change to a bigger plan and download it, after finishing, change into a RapidSmall again.

The duration of your account will be proportional to your use.

And if you use the RapidShare manager software, becomes easy to upload and download your files, with no wait.

But is a big miss for RS not to reward the downloaders. Of course is right to not reward uploaders, because you can upload a file and it can be never downloaded. But a file downloaded from my account HAVE to be rewarded, or everyone will abandon RS.

Let's see what it will become.

If more people bothered to say thanks in threads id probably empathise a bit more with you, but for me, the rapidpoints made up for those who didnt say thankyou. Now without that thanks and without the rapidpoints, im moving over. Dont get me wrong, rS may still be cheap but for me its not worth it and ive little incentive. I lost a lot of points due to this system and ive no intention of sticking with them once they delete my files.
