As of July 1, 2010 RapidShare's RapidPoints programme will be discontinued. This decision by the company is a reaction to claims that the reward programme rewards the uploading of contents that are protected by copyright.
We feel it is necessary to undertake this step as we do not wish RapidShare's users to be exposed to such an unjustified general suspicion. Our primary objective remains to provide users with a fast, secure and reliable service.
that's the final nail in the coffin.
Last night my RS account has changed drastically. I have just lost 300 000+ of my free points, and the only thing I could do was changing my 40000 premium points for 8 months, so now I have a load of new points called 'rapids'.
I myself agree with BadDevil. This will be the end of RS. Currently, my files are downloaded, but not a single point has been added to my score yet so far. I don't know what to expect next from RS, so I will move my files to another file host before it's too late.
I'm just saying, if they completely abandon the reward system for uploaders, then 95% of uploaders will just move to another host. And I also believe there are many people out there who lost maybe millions of free points, and will soon be **** to delete some of their files, due to the fact that you now pay for the storage of your files.
I regret the RS leaders made such a step. RS will soon die if they do not find another way to reward the uploaders. At this point, this is a disaster.
