RS sucks major balls now. It's no longer 'rapid' - not that it ever was, but hey.

i agree, rs has gotten way too powerful. it feels it can do anything. megaporn (formerly sexuploader) was always better.

But megaporn isn't available in Germany (at least three members with different ISPs can't get access), sorry.

The only problem whit megaupload is, if you want to have a premium account you have to pay. The RS points system allows you to have your ownn premium if you really share.

Actually, if you open a free Megaupload account, you can earn 1 point for every downloaded MU file, where 10,000 pts = 1 month premium account. But MU's numbers don't seem to be very precise.

Rapidshare is still my choice for now; I can't say I like their new policies, but they are still the most stable in terms of upload/download speed AND stability. Megaupload would be my top choice, but their servers have a bit more downtime than Rapidshare... I often get the "File Temporarily Unavailable" message on my JUST uploaded MU files. Razz

I've had discussions with other good posters and Filefactory seemed to be a decent alternative - I haven't used it but the upload/download speeds seem pretty fast... the caveat for Filefactory are slightly limited free downloading slots for the masses.

Hotfile seems very fast - but I'm a bit leery of any filehost service that openly promotes linkstealing somewhat. Something about that doesn't jive with me.

A simple paid RS account is really one of the best investments you can do online. At 55 Euros a year its really a good deal. Thats like 15 cents per day like a pack of gum. Of course if you are a total leecher looking for free dl you can not complain much about it. Plus RS comes virtually ad-free pop-free spam-free. Use your flash-get and voila you can fill TB of external HD within months be it regular movies or porn. Go Go RS.

A pack of gum for 15 cents of an Euro? 20 cents of a dollar? Shocked

Are you from a country where the chewing gum is so cheap?

actually is very hard to find a good storing service, certainly in many countries pay a premium acount is not a option, are you try moncloshare offer host for many files is free and and have regular download speed, i have a 1mb internet connection and still works Smile. megaupload have another advantage over rapishare, the download link in the free user mode is valid for a internet download manager client.

RS was and is today the best hoster. Some new sites are fast for free users for a little time - as they are small. When they grow, they suck in speed....RS is the best for YEARS!!!
The only thing, what gets me sick is the 200mb/file limit on remote UL. At least 1GB/file and I would seed and seed good stuff like crazy.

MU used to be slow and unreliable, as I remember, but for the past few days I've been downloading 1GB files at very good speed, one right after another free, unregistered! (The Sopranos, in case you are wondering.)

At about the 8 or 9 gig mark, downloading slowed to a crawl, so I killed it, started up again a little while later and it's still working great, closing in on 20GB with no "bandwidth exceeded" waiting, just the usual 45 seconds.

Just thought I'd give a heads up, in case anyone has a list of MU links waiting for downloading, they could try it now.

edit: next day: Unfortunately, I have to report that my antivirus reported Mal/PDFJ-P from the MU download page. Maybe an advertiser? May or may not be malicious, but definitely uninvited!

edit: 4/08/10, still going strong, no download limits! Once, I got a warning page from Windows Defender (I guess) blocking MU as a dangerous site, just be sure your antivirus is on...

RS has removed that "too many users downloading" crap - this is good for a free downloader like me. RS gives now greater dl speed - this is good for me, too (although to me FF gives best speeds).
Bad thing - very quick removal of reported files. I don't know any other hoster who removes (blocks) files so quick. And as uploader, I hate they just blocking file (what's the meaning of this?).

not being a 3rd world hoster, RS is pretty diligent about protecting copyright ownership when notified. I suspect, though, that could do a better job of making sure the party "notifying" them is really the owner, and not merely a whiner who wants their dl points from another hoster.

With my premium account, I have files that have about 45 been on RS for over a year - and not a single deletion. Of course the busiest one has only 1,230 DLs. Might be different if I was a power user, but those a**holes at Comcast would throttle my speed and up my already absurd monthly bill.

The meaning of blocking files is to let the uploader have a chance to prove that the report isn't just and should be revoked.

Out of my current 2041 files, 472 are from 2006-2007.
I have had loads of deletions, over 3500 files, all due to the 60 days of no downloads rule.
