Alcohol: Not as far as I know. At least, it hasn't done me any noticable harm so far. Mind you, I have been so drunk my eyes didn't work any more, but that improved when I sobered up. About two days later, I think...

Methanol: Yes. Found in Metholated Spirits, IMS and cheap, illegal and some home distilled booze. Will destroy your sight, over a relatively short period of time. Mind you, blindness will be the leat of your problems if you habitually drink meths as it destroys your liver faster than ethanol!

Any particular reason for your question? Normaly on this forum it's not the drinking that make you go blind...

My level of inebriation reach the point my vision began to get blurry, but as you said once I began sobering up all was well.

I've never heard of that but your eyes do go blurry after a couple of drinks so that's a form of blindness?

Wood alcohol, which is entirely different than the alcohol in beer, wine, etc. CAN blind a person even after drinking small amounts. Bootleggers have used this in their "brews" and blindness is, or was, a common result.
On the other hand, moderate drinking seems to lower the likelihood of damned near all the bad shit and generally make a body function better!

Wood alcohol is methanol: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methanol (and yes, I know, Wiki is about as trust worthy as a politician, but this time it is right...)

There are plenty of mixed drinks that combine different spirits, some of them with quite tasty results. Booze is booze, though not all boozes are created equal. As long as you heed the words of wisdom of Alton Towers as far as what not to drink under any circumstances and don't drink to super excess you should be fine.

The danger in mixing is the quantity as arksulli says.

Mixing your drinks can have unpleasant side effects though - I no longer drink red and white wine in the same evening as I found I tended to suffer if I did.

Again I bow to the wisdom of Alton in this regard, I don't know why but for some reason mixing white and red wines does seem to invite the gods of asskicking to have a go at you.
