I use both of them.

emule works but is slow as hell (max was 400KBit i had), wheres torrent often gives me a dl of 20.000KBit!!

If you have trouble connecting with emule, you should download a newer version. I use an old version of emule .46a, and when i did a reformat and installed emule, i couldn't connect to any servers. You can update the sever list with a .txt file, but most users it would probably easier to get a newer version.
