If $1,000,000 could save 100 extra lives (through hospital treatment etc), then you would have a net gain. So I would do it infinitely, providing I made sure the money was going to save people's lives
An interesting question. I suspect that most people would push the button at least a few times.
However, after they get the money, if they have any sort of concience they would then be racked with guilt and give most of the money away, proberly to people they don't know.
I would push the button 2 billion times for free. There are too many people in the planet, creating a heavy pressure on the planets's resources. If this trend continues, the planet will exact its revenge and us humans are not its priority.Nature has its own way of balancing itself and we have no control over it. Wildlife management tries to balance the population of each specie by killing excess numbers and nurturing the few. Still, they can not do much about species going extinct.
Kill half of the population for the benefit of the other half.
As an interesting variation, I wonder how many people would press the button knowing that they themselves would die but someone of their choosing would collect a million bucks?
Well I think it depends on the experiences that the person that has the box has made. So hopefully nobody will ever push this button. I would definitely not. It becomnes interesting if you can save more than one life by spending the money you get by pushing the button. Then we'd begin to start "accounting lives to each other" (don't know how to say as I am not a native english guy).
