B. Refers to a wardrobe issue.

One of them resulted in a statuette for this performer.

Well I for one officially throw in the towel. The statuette clue should make it easier, but it actually rules out all the tangential possibilities that were floating around in my head. I even looked up Oscar winners back to 1990 (http://www.filmsite.org/oscars00.html) but nothing jumped out at me, although I could probably shoehorn Nicole Kidman into the second clue with a few minutes to think about it... Whoopi Goldberg in Ghost and Sister Act. She got Best Supporting Actress for Ghost. It doesn't seem possible that it's been long enough for that one to have fallen off the radar, but what's that furrin saying? Tempus fuckit or something Wink
Sorry gang, I really thought that would be solved straight away.

the black and white first made me think of pleasantville and then when you said wardrobe my mind went to some kind of cop movie. Nuns didn't even cross my mind.

here's one:

hid in black and white and kept getting attacked by a cast member of SNL

Well now I have Tobey McGuire on the brain with all the Pleasantville talk, but unfortunately Alfred Molina, James Franco and Willem Dafoe were never SNL cast members... Although I would say it was Reese Witherspoon who ended up 'hiding' there, but she also did not get attacked to the best of my knowledge. Confused

Here's another, for shits and giggles.

Hid in black and white and then watched from within the circle.
He also sailed with panache, had a rocky relationship with his black and white colleagues, and had a little problem with a fence.

I have to peek once in a while, because I get the clues jumbled together.
On the SNL alum clue, was it an oldie or recent. I haven't watched it in quite a while.

This guy didn't happen to be on SNL did he?

If he was, then I'd say it must be Eddie Murphy as Gumby and Dr Doolittle.

No, that's not who I was thinking of but the funny thing is he is actually an SNL alumnus and Eddie Murphy co-starred in the first movie. With respect to the second movie, the reference to the sixties relates to the character - it was the theme of the movie - rather than when the movie was made.

Son of a B! A big green doctor from the 60's:

Mike Myers as Shrek and Dr. Evil!

So what's still active you ask?

Me too. I can't think of any movies at all where someone is repeated attacked by the same person, much less a (likely) comedy with an SNL cast member being the attacker...

I even went here and scrolled through them all, but nothing rings a bell:

Bill Murray bothered the hell out of Richard Drefuss in What about Bob and that's about as close as I've gotten on that one.
For yours, Mel Gibson fits the "circle"part and the "sailed" thing too, but I don't see the others.
These hard ones are only funny when they're mine! Confused

Did Steve Martin attack anybody? cuz Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid was in BW.

Well, t'aint the anti-Semite. How does he fit those clues, BTW? Crop circles in Signs and Mayflower pilgrim in Pocahontas??

I will say that the second clue is from his most successful movie of this group of 5, and that the last clue is taken from a line of his dialogue that is a major understatement.

in mine, the SNL cast member was the main character, the answer was a much smaller part, though it recurred throughout the movie and the "attacks" were accidental

Billy, No, I meant Mutiny, but it just hit me that Johnny Depp is probably the "with panache" part. Gotta work on the rest.
Jitna, I can toss all my 1st impressions. MAYBE that'll help.

Nope. Smile

Although this will probably give it away completely...think more flamboyant.
