Looks just like the real thing. I tried both choosing premium and direct download with the same results. You get there faster with direct download, but you still get the phishing attempt.

Yeah some formats suck (e.g. flv).

If it came off a cell phone it's virtually useless, too.

I try to avoid the DivX format unless it is professional content. The files are too big and usually incondensable with windows based tools. There may be codecs I could download, but I am not looking for them. I may download something I really want to see, but I won't keep it if I can't get the file down and still have a viewable movie, or condense it, period.

Monkey, you were one of the ones that were impersonated too but i'm sure you zapped it as well. looks like maybe they intentionally went for admins and mods this time in hopes of fooling us.

Yeah, these phishers try to fool the members here by choosing names slightly different to famous posters/admins/mods.

So please report all suspicious posts regardless what's the name of the poster.

There were three new phishers right now at the video section and each could post two threads before I banned them.
Now everything seems fine again.

Beware and don't hesitate to report.

Phishing has became such a problem here that I don't even click on links by poster lower than 100 post ( I myself fall into this catergory). This sux because there are too many generous poster here with good stuff to share. Thanks to all those poster!

Why not close new membership temporary until it settle down. Weed out phiser still currently on this forum, and keep eye out for new members when membership reopen? Just a suggestion.

I think you are a little paranoid.

They phish every forum I have been on.

I am on their links all the time.

They can't get you unless you select the premium download, get the error message from the phishing site, and then key your codes in when prompted.

Just don't key in your codes.

No harm. No foul.

There's somebody on here saying thanks to just about every post in Spanish. They're up to 23 or more in just a few minutes...much like our phishing friend does. The difference is these aren't starts to threads so they're more under the radar. What's to stop an industrious spammer/phisher from doing that to get a big, trustworthy looking, post count just so members will think they can trust them and THEN posting bad links? If someone sees a "VET" posting, they're more likely to get careless.
(This isn't a shot at you, teaser, I know many people probably use a similar strategy.)
I'm not saying that's what this guy's doing, but it's something to be considered and ALL THE MORE REASON FOR MEMBERS TO GET INVOLVED AND REPORT BAD OR SUSPECT LOOKING POSTS.
I see the comment about only a few people bothering to report links and always see the same few names on a thread like this. Has anyone ever thought about giving post credit for reports that actually result in a spam/phishing post getting caught? Even a half point per time might be incentive enough to get more members off their butts & help. I know there are downsides to consider (like lots of false alarms), but it might be worth having more chaff to sort through to nail more of this scum and faster.

Yeah, maybe you're right.

Just a question, can phishing be used on pay site (porn). Seems like a better alternative than cracking a pass, which can take days..

Not a bad idea. We can't credit anyone's post count. The system doesn't allow for it. We could give members who have less than 300 posts access to the VIP section for meritorious service to the site. It's something to consider.

What is in the VIP section that makes it so very important?

Do you have a Directsex thread in the VIP section? I saw a comment that Shadow's thread got moved there.

DONE! but how should it be handled? do I just PM any MODs with the link? Like the other day, What I saw as Phishing attempt, I'd just replied with "Phishing Alert?"

Whatever the case is, there should be little to no Phisher in the VIP section, I'm good for it, check out my join date, way before phishing went mainstream + I'm computer retarded, so no harm can come out of me Very Happy

the biggest problem i have with the notification system is when i try to report multiple threads in a row, i have to wait 30 seconds before i can report the next one. sort of annoying. it would be nice if you have over 300+ posts that the restrictions comes off so that we can report quickly and not have to wait for timeout period

I have to disagree with you on this one, jbsa. Thirty seconds isn't that long if you're looking at a post carefully enough to make sure you aren't jumping the gun and accusing a valid poster. Also, and mods, please set me straight if this assumption is wrong, but if JoeAssHole has 5 posts, reporting any one of them should do the trick. It alerts the mods to an attacker without excess content to deal with. If, however, multiple reports help, I will do that.
Conversely, if JoeAssHole wanted to do just that (plug the reporting system) without the delay, he could click every post, hit report, and make it virtually impossible for the mods to separate the wheat from the chaff making his crap a LOT harder to deal with.

Well said.

Nothing more to add.

Simply report one post of a suspicious poster. His others will be checked automatically.

I noticed that some moderators leave a thread when the first thread, posted days earlier, contains legitimate videos.

I would delete that post as well. Otherwise you have a thread from a one-post-wonder, who got banned, that looks just like the phishing attempts, only with legitimate links. It could lead to more confusion/apprehension about downloading files on other new-poster threads.
