account with them, you may lose your money like I did

F**K you Rapidshare

See here : http://www.viprasys.com/vb/170623-post1.html

In short : your account was hacked and the person who hacked it sent you that email.
Try to contact rapidshare directly to see what they have to say about it.

When I click on a rapidshare link, they ask me to enter user name & password manualy. Once I've done that, the screen says "ERROR"..."The Account has been found, but the password is incorrect...."

This happened to me also. Solution-write to rapidshare support and you will receive a reply. Your password can be changed and everything will be back to normal. Evidently some passwords have been hacked but I don't know how. It could have happened by logging in to a dummy site like rapidshit or some such.

There is a sticky about Rapidshare phishing at the top of the video forum.

I bumped into some phishing threads in another forum. It sucked too, because I really wanted to see the video.

It gives you an error message When you chose "premium" at download and sends you to a login at the bottom. Never log in at the bottom of the page.

This Image gives you an example of the Phishing "fake" Rapidshare link.

screenshot

If you see a "fake" link in the forum, report it so that it gets deleted from the forum.

If you get phished, login in the right place and change your password, if you still can.

The following came out of another forum.

Quote:
someone found my account password on rapidshare and changed my pass, my username and my email
in 2 days i got my account back, very simple:

send an email to support@rapidshare.com asking to send you a new password and providing them the following info:

Name: ...the name of the paypal account owner
E-Mail: ...email of the paypal account
Login-ID: ...get it from payment details on paypal account
Transaction-ID: ... get it from payment details on paypal account
Receipt-ID: ...get it from payment details on paypal account

as you can see, the rs account is related to the paypal account, so be sure nobody is phishing your paypal account

Quote:
If you can get the url to the fake RS page turn it in here http://www.cybersnitch.net/cybersnitch.htm and it will be given to the FBI that way.

If you are on a page that you suspect is a fake phishing page, right click anywhere on the page go to 'View Page Source'. This will open a separate window containing the pages code, written here (general but not always) at the top is the sites address. If it is not normal rapidshare download page, it is a phishing page.

There is more than 1 sticky about phishing. On some days where industrious phishers put in a full 8 hours, I would estimate that 1 in 3 new threads here might be phishing attempts. So my guess is that you did not pay close enough attention and you gave away your login info to a cleverly designed page that looked very much like a real RS page. Then once they got into your account, they changed your password and sent you an email designed to make you react exactly as you did - blame RS and decide to just move to another host, leaving the phisher with free access to a stolen account for the remainder of your membership term.

1. Read the helpful stickies that mods and others have created for your benefit. If you don't bother to do so, you really have no one to blame but yourself if you get careless.

2. Report phishing attempts when you see them. Nothing is more irritating than to see a new post with 50 views and open it up to find it to be a phishing attempt that no one has bothered to report. Help fellow members - the faster phony links get reported and removed, the fewer members will see them and potentially get fooled.

If you mouse over a link without clicking you can see whether the actual link (not the visible text for the link) is really for "rapidshare.com" or one of the many similar domains intended to pass for rs.com at a quick glance (like rapidslnare.com, where the l-n combo might pass for an h if you don't look closely enough). Also, beware any redirect links that are hidden in what appears to be a rs.com link according to the text. Many posters legitimately use anonymizing redirecters, but they never hide the redirection - the posted links will show the actual destination of the hyperlink. Any time the text and the hyperlink do not match, beware.

....further more,

i recently lost over 20 gigs of files on rapidshare, and not happy about it, takes alot of effort to find/download or rip/ split/ grab images/ upload and then post and lets face it 99% of us dont make any money from it,

or do we?
