This is certainly possible, but borderline dangerous. Overhydration is just as dangerous as dehydration. In addition to putting a lot of strain on your kidneys, too much water **** into your cells is just as unhealthy as too little (hypertonic vs. hypotonic). Water will always move across cell membranes in the direction that dilutes the side that has the greater concentration of disolved compounds (the "saltier" side). If you put a human cell ("saltiness" equivalent to seawater, which is where we all came from) in a petri dish of fresh water, it will explode as water osmoses into the cell unendingly, attempting to dilute the saltier side of the membrane to equal the outside, which is not possible since the outside water is fresh. This is why ocean fish die quickly when placed into fresh water - they are hemorrhaging at the cellular level.

So don't push too much water either. It can be just as bad (or worse) than mild dehydration when you take into account the kidney damage that can occur over time. And that, ladies and gentleman, ends today's science lesson. Wink

Actually Esteban, I can and do on a daily basis. Being a bodybuilder, water is VERY important, so I consume 24oz of water an hour all day long. A lot of bathroom trips but it keeps my body very hydrated.

I do know that the average person cannot consume that much water, it took me years to work up to that.

Well I am no bodybuilder (used to be into that though) but... I have also built up a good resistence to drinking pints of beer... I can drink them ten in a row one every 40 mins no probs - it also took me many years of training to get this far and I am proud LOLZ Laughing ! I bet I am one of the best heavyweight drinkers here (I won't be challenged on shorts though...whiskey vodka etc but for beer Smile )

@ billyellis Thanks for the science lesson! Very Happy

There was a lot about the consumption of water in the media when I posted my reply (I am presuming this was generally mentioned around the world here?)

Anyway what I meant more so than encouraging anyone to actually go ahead and try drinking pint after pint of water (I used to do that about 15 years ago when I was a spotty 14 year old in the belief that it helps your skins appearance - you can actually get a buzz out of it somewhat similar to being drunk) I meant more on the lines of you wouldn't sit down and have 10 cups of tea in a row or ten cans of coke. Alchohol is a strange beverage in that it awlays leaves you wanting more and you always get wiser with every sup (until the next morning Wink Embarassed Very Happy Shocked Twisted Evil Wink )!!!

I always find that a 32 oz. gatorade or powerade before bed will knock out my hangovers. The only problem I would have was remembering to drink it.

I would agree with all those that mentioned HYDRATION.. that is key. billyellis was the first poster to mention this I believe. He is absolutely correct saying a hangover is due to dehydration. Depending on the amount of alcohol consumed, sipping quantities water during or after the alcohol consumption should sufficiently reduce (or eliminate) the hangover effects. I heard of this long ago during my drinking days (drinking age back then was 19 in my state and in my mid/late 20s I could keep up with the best of them) and can't remember the last hangover I had... more than 20 years ago.

As an added insurance measure, I also downed 4 ibuprofen before crashing... a hangover was never a problem if I stuck to these simple preventive measures.

Keep drinking..

Always works, but after
a week like that, you need
some "chemicals" to stop
doing the shakes... Wink

(NOT recommanded for
people under 30...or swedes).

I have tried a hangover pill since my last post here. It is called nightline or something like that. You need to take it within one hour of your first drink.

It is weird Shocked I tried it on a night out a couple of weeks ago and getting up the next day after heavy drinking I had no headache! I drank 9 pints of Carlsberg, 3 double vodka's with red bull and 2 jager bombs. I still felt tired through a lack of sleep but it takes away the headache definitely. Smile

Lol I have thought so hard and made many decisions while being drunk and walking - thing is never stuck to most of them the next morning when I awoke!!! Laughing

A big glass of water is always apreciated when home from a night out.

The main advice I can give is simple... Don't drink if you have to get up the next day and perform!

That would be a HUGE mistake as caffeine dehydrates you and just makes the symptoms worse. WATER!!!!!
