I can't choose myself. Rolling Eyes

Here's a few I love:

Seinfeld
Dad's army (I prefer english sitcoms, frazer is so damn funny)
The New Statesman (Rik Mayall Exclamation )

It's not a sitcom, but Not the Nine O'Clock News is the best ever Exclamation
Thank god I was able to dl the two compilation dvds

Sitcoms wow, I will have to hjave a think about that and get back to you CC, wait wait, no its gone.

Seinfield was by far one of the finest, though towards the end I was starting to hate Elaine, is that natural?

I didn't like Elaine that much. I liked George and Frank Costanza. They were my favourite characters on that show.

By the way, I recently saw that you had a "are you being served" down under. Was it as boring as the UK aybs?

Nothing wrong with you liking that show. Have seen it once or twice. Some people even liked watching "full house". I wonder why, I hated it, but we are all individuals and should watch what ever we feel like watching.

SOAP! I liked that Benson character. There was a spin-off based on him. Never seen it, but it 'll on my list now! I hope I'll find it on usenet or one of the open nap servers!

Benson was showned here so I saw it.
Eeehhh, not so much it didn't really made it on it's own.
Blackadder or any Rowan Atkinson for the matter is all good ones.
Yes Minister/ Yes Prime Minister wasn't there an alternative name "The red tape" or something?

In my list I have to add a more rescent one.
I didn't saw it the first and/or the second season, but I have since, because of all reruns made in between seasons.
Somehow I was sucked in even though I wasn't thrilled in the beginning.
I'm talking about FRIENDS.
Not just because of JA as Rachel but because of all the characters, they got a great dynamic between the actors that really showed on stage.
Everybody knew what would happen in the last episode, it's Hollywood influenced TV for crying out loud.
Still I couldn't avoid to shed a tear when the beauty got the beas... nerd.
Yea, I'm an old softy.

Another spinoff that didn't quite made it is of course JOEY.
2 or was it 3 seasons then it was taken off the air and it has been taken off here completly after only 2 reruns.
FRIENDS have done 6 or 8 laps or so.

Okay, I am disallowing cartoons in my own post (Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy, Beavis & Butthead, etc). That said, top sitcoms of all time a la RM ...

1. Seinfeld. Embarassed

2. (TIE) Friends, but only the first 4 seasons, before they jumped the shark with Ross saying Rachel's name at his second wedding. After that it was sporadically humorous but that's all. Rolling Eyes

2. (TIE) M.A.S.H. Yes, I'm 41, and there actually were great sitcoms made before 1985. Laughing Laughing When I was growing up in the 70s -- and we only had 5 TV channels -- this show was da bomb.

3. Fawlty Towers. And yes I'm an American. Embarassed

4. Cheers. NORRRRRMMMM!!

5. WKRP in Cincinnati. C'mon now, you watched this, you know you watched this, if, for nothing else, Loni Anderson's lovely huge breastesses. But remember Dr. Johnny Fever? Cool Laughing

Honorable Mention to some timeless oldies: Gilligan's Island, Get Smart, Honeymooners, I Love Lucy.

Finally, I have only recently started watching the show called "Scrubs", and I have to say that its pretty goldarn funny ... too soon to see if it makes the list though.

Doesn't ring a bell. I liked Fawlty towers. They only made 12 episodes Sad M.A.S.H. was okay, althouhg I really disliked that Radar character.

Never seen any of the shows yungt33nluvr mentioned.

Blackadder, a great show. I'm no Mr. Bean fan, but I liked Rowan Atkinson on that show and, of course, on Not the Nine O'Clock News. The "Gerald the gorilla" sketch is still brilliant Laughing

Yes I forgot friends, I watched that sort of, now Im watching the reruns, wow Courtney Cox, wow.

Also I used to love Family Ties, that Justine Bateman was a babe, I have to admit I had a bit of a crush on her.
