When I'm not on this site I spend a lot of my free time playing internet poker and I was wondering if there are any others here who play the holy game. If so care to share some of your thoughts and experiences? What's your worse bad beat? What sites do you/have you played on? Which would you recommend or warn others to stay clear of?

Let me tell you about my worse recent experience. I was on the button with pocket 5s (clubs and spades). No one raised pre flop so I called. The flop came down 5 hearts, 5 diamonds, K hearts giving me quad 5s. I was delighted when a guy to my left bet the pot and another one called (possibly both had hit a pair of Ks I figure) so naturally I just called. No point in scaring anyone off at this stage. The turn card was 6 hearts. And the first guy to my left went all in. I figure he's hit 2 pair or more likely a big flush in hearts. To my surprise the other guy called and I when my turn came I hit the call button to go all in. Nothing happened. My f'ing server had crashed!!!

ok I think I can match that Shadowman,

a couple of weeks ago I was playing, I drew pocket 8's, lovely, so I raised preflop to scare a few people off, four people stayed in with me.

flop 8,8,K

the guy across from me goes all in, wow I think he drew two pair, maybe a book, no couldnt be when the guy next to him calls???????

One of them must be bluffing, here I am with quad 8's and one guys gone all in and another has called?????....what is going on????

So I go all in to try and scare the other guy off and he folds.

I show my cards quad 8's, he shows his cards full book K's over 8's

the turn................. 6......................

the river................K....................

no way, my quad 8's hammered by quad Kings..........almost enough to make you give up.........

I didnt last long after that as you could well imagine.

Ouch SD. That's a bad beat. I only had quads beaten once (I flopped four 7s and another guy who had pocket Qs hit Qs on the turn and river). That was on Pokeroom.com. (I don't play on that site any more).

I play on Ladbrokes but rarely play the cash games but you can play with play chips they give you up to 2000 free chips depending how many you have left over each day

0=2000
300=1700

3698=0

I have built up 4,000,000 now and it is enjoyable playing knowing I am not losing any cash but playing a game I enjoy and also we have regular players who we chat with whilst playing and I have even travelled across the country to meet a couple of them and they now are very good friends

About 18 months ago I lost my entire stake at Pokeroom over a very short period with one atrocious beat after another and got very disillusioned with the game. I stopped playing money games for about 9 months and only played play money sit-and-go 10 hander tournaments. I kept a record of my performances on a spreadsheet to make it more interesting. The problem was that I kept making it to the last three players and was winning over 70% of the tournaments so it stopped being interesting. You can have fun on the play money tables but it isn't real poker. Guys make and call bets they'd never do if real money was at stake. Now I play at Virginpoker mostly on the $0.05/$0.10 tables so there isn't a lot of money to lose. The trouble with that of course is that again people make big bets against the odds because they have so little to lose. It's very frustrating when you flop top pair, bet the pot and someone calls an even money bet with a 12/1 against inside straight draw and hits it on the river. I need to put a lot more money in the site and start playing on the higher stake tables.

I felt fairly pleased with myself last night. Virginpoker has a daily freeroll tournament which I play in most days. Averages about 300 players per tournament. I've made the final table 4 times in the last 6 I've played. 10th, 9th, 5th and last night I finished 4th. Not much money being a freeroll of course but in tournament play that isn't really the point.

Nice! Personally, I'm happy anytime i can be considered top tier, obviously this doesn't happen in poker though cause i suck at it.

May I ask how long you've been playing voltaic? I've been playing 6 years. The the first 3 years I was playing about 50 hrs a week and I've only recently started winning consistently.

I've never played cyber-poker but I do enjoy getting together with friends and having a nice friendly game of poker.
