Hey 'rosso_rat' you might like to know that you are not alone. Here's part of an e-mail I sent to Rapidshare earlier today,
'Please read this carefully before you reply.
To quote your reply,
'Please check all your network elements and configurations. It happens often
that the problems you experience are only results of filters, proxy server,
router or firewall rules on your or on your internet service provider side.'
With reference to the above statement, I have been a regular up/downloader
from
Rapidshare for over 2 years. There has been no change in my internet
settings
during this time period. This is not anything to do with filters, proxy
server,
router or firewall rules. In the past I have had no difficulties connecting
to
rapidshare. This problem has only recently occurred. Also, as I previously
stated
many other UK users have started to experience the same problem as me
during the same time period. This cannot just be coincidence.
Rapidshare is the only site on the Net that has this problem. I can connect
to
any other working internet site without difficulty.
Today I have been unable to connect to Rapidshare through my browser at any
time.
However, I can 'Ping' Rapidshare with no problem.
I have an excellent connection between my computer and my ISP with 8Mb
broadband
and am currently downloading a file at around 5.5mbs whilst I write this.
BT (British Telecoms) my Internet Provider, tell me that they have not
blocked Rapidshare,
nor have they installed any filters recently.
With the above in mind, it is obvious that this is only a Rapidshare fault.
As you can see from the above I am now unable to connect and get the same error as you. I've been in conversation with Rapid for some time and they have so far blamed anyone they can think of other than themselves.
However, frustration has driven me on and I have a temporary solution as a work around for now. If you are a premium user you should be able to open your home page at,
https://ssl.rapidshare.com/cgi-bin/premiumzone.cgi
Go to 'options', tick 'direct downloads', then 'save'.
Now when you want to download a file use the following example.
eg.
dead link change to--
https://ssl.rapidshare.com/files/00000000/Desktop.part1.rar
Click 'Go' and the download will pop-up for you to save.
Let me know if this works for you as it sure does for me.
