Just FYI: Filecloud will be closing on the 31st of March, so it should come off the list of approved file hosts.
I haven't seen anybody post to it, so it propably aint that big a deal.

Some posters use it as an imagehost for big previews ( unfortunately me too), seems that we will have some posts without pics in April ..
So i guess it would be better to take it off the list now

@Monkey D. Ruffy:
bayimg says they don't like porn, do you know how long the porn-pics last?

@hyena:
pics-hosting and imagesocket (<150kb) also allow hotlinking.

May i suggest a section of pichosters for hotlinking only, like bigpichost and saved.im
I would even put pics-hosting on that list. It works fine for hotlinked images but they have a lot of ads since the last few weeks if you use it for thumbnails.

Hi Loui375.

Most of the pic hoster don't like porn, but I use bayimg.com (and saw it is used on other boards for porn as well) and my pics are still alive for months.

So I don't think they delete very fast.

bigpichost was removed from the list of allowed image hoster due to problems some members had with this hoster (virus warnings). So it's better not to use it anymore (even if the problems only occured if used with thumbnail option).

I tried bayimg and it seems to work so far. About a quarter of all my previews is on filecloud, so i guess i put them all up to bayimg.
But i've seen that bayimg is recompressing all uploaded files (even already small jpgs), so sometimes the result is a bit crappy, well better than no pic

@hyena:
there's also a hotlink option in uploader.ws, but as i tested it, the files disappeared very fast, maybe a bandwith restriction ...

Was there a verdict on LinkSave.in as a link protector? I've seen it requested on this site a few times in different threads (by some career posters) but didn't see an official response.

I too have protected (and downloaded) via that service in the past, with great success.

Thanks.

-First, a file spreading website suggestion:

http://www.rapidspread.com

(Upload a file once, and the service automatically uploads your file to other hosting sites.)

It's similar to Sharebee, but with more hosting sites, and you get to choose which ones to use. After uploading a file, you get a link that leads to the download page. In that page, the first time you click anywhere, it opens a pop-up, but after that, everything seems to work nicely, at least in my case.

-Second, an issue I'd like clarification is, can a poster post a link generated by a file spreading website, when that "spreading site"-link leads to a number of hosting sites, and when some of those hosting sites are not included in the list of officially approved hosts?

It says in the rules about spreading sites that "When you upload to these sites, they will reupload the file to several other hosting sites. Please check the banned hosting sites list before posting individual links."

From those words, my understanding is that those "individual links" mean the file host links like "www.rapidshare.com/files/12345/678.rar", but they do not mean the "spreading site"-links, so posting those, where ever they might lead, would be acceptable. However, I'm not sure if I've understood this correctly, so clarification with the issue would be welcome.

I can't see imagebam on the list anymore! Please don't tell me it's banned.
It is still on the "Approved Hosting Site List" that you can click in the VIP-club, but it's not here on page 1.
Btw. two lists with the same content are always a bit hard to manage, there are other hosters that are allowed here and not on the other list, a bit confusing .. Confused

This is the mainlink I'm always checking against.
https://www.forumophilia.com/topic59567.html
If you see any topics that are older and don't have this layout, then they are outdated and not valid.
On that list imagebam is still an approved host.

However as this topic was reopened, we (Monkey D. Ruffy Wink ) are doing a new review of what sites should be allowed or not.

That site could never be allowed since they utilise several hosts that are not approved to be used here.
The meaning is that if the filespreader are linking to a site that is not approved the spreadlink is not approved either.
In order not to have to check and police every spreadlink if they are linking to unapproved hosts or not, the use of the spreadsite will be banned completly instead.

not sure this has been mentioned but to anyone thinking
of using sharebee or similar sites for your uploads:

the rapidshare link generated will only be able to be downloaded by 10 people as it will be neither allocated to a premium or collectors account-
something i just noticed with a different file spreading host which i
assume also applies to sharebee.

I'd like to add http://tinypic.com/

No anoying adds/popups, no spyware etc.....Quick to upload to, fast server to display images. Handles bmp, jpg, gif, animated-gifs erc...

Does not allow nudity or adult content. However, it's a great pic host for non-nude celeb pics/samples/contact sheets, etc....
