The first part is I'd like to ask the members that have made many more posts than I have (and probably ever will):

How do you deal with those individuals that keep nagging you to post stuff up but won't make any contributions themselves?

Second - is there some reason the forum has slowed way down the last week or so. I'm finding the pages here are hanging more frequently and that trying to add attachments to new posts is almost impossible before the page times out.

I guess since no one's chipping in, i can give my two cents of thought.

My personal policy on this (elsewhere) is that if it's something I'd have posted anyway, then no harm in fulfilling a request. If it's something special or rare, or something of large size that I'd not normally post, then if they've not contributed anything, i can safely tell them as much. If they make a habit of it, it's perfectly acceptable to tell them that you don't appreciate what their doing, and point out what would make it not as obnoxious.

A key thing is that social forums like this run on a healthy mix of respect and courtesy, and people who violate those rules are detrimental to the community.

As for the site being slow, I've not noticed any particular slowness on my end. I've noticed sometimes attached images don't show up, but then after a reload they'll be there. Other then that, the site runs pretty good for me; I'm glad it's here.

I would have been faster to reply, but i was disgusted at the speed of the forum for the last two weeks and stopped checking in. The problem was apparently in the HTML coding that displays the ads and sponsored links. Once that was corrected, the site returned to normal. Don't forget that GS is the only person who has the security level to work on the site content and if he doesn't check in for a week or so, there is no recourse for the moderators.

As for leechers, I seldom respond to their requests, unless it suits my own purposes. This forum, like most others, is 95% leecher and I have learned to accept it. We have language barriers here, people who are too ignorant to even know that they are rude, and a certain percentage who think that if they post something, the FBI and Interpol will be landing black helicopters on the front lawn in half an hour.

Sorry, I have to cut this reply short. There's a loud noise out in the backyard...

Thanks for both replies. They both confirmed my feelings on the lurking subject and an appropriate way of dealing with it for what I'd like to do with future some posts.

I noticed the new ads too and was surprised that that was a problem. I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I thought it might have been something else; for all I know it could have been a combination of the two.

I'll salute GS while I'm here, he puts up with a lot of crap in keeping this forum up and running.

Elmo I would say that with close to 100 000 members, 99% are leechers or lurkers.
No harm in that because they are the ones keeping my RS account running so I don't need to pay for it.

Ah... So that is the trick I've missed! You register an account, then post enough good material here so that a bunch of lurkers fill up your account with credits.
I should have used my account for more than leeching I suppose Wink

Agreed! I have enough points in 2 RS accounts to keep going for 2 years (on EACH acct)

Other than that, if someone has like 2 posts and is asking for something, I just ignore them!

Confession time!

Apart from a contri to the story forum, I don't post any links to downloads. The reason for that, from information I have garnered along the way, is that many if not most of the posters seem to do so from their personal stock when they themselves put their hand in their pockets and joined other pay sites and downloaded the material.

I have found stuff out there which may or may not appear on this site. And here's the rub:
Those who make a post only to find it's a duplicate seems to attract pretty sharp comments from moderators and others pointing them to the original posting. I can see this as being demoralising particularly when a post is made in good faith and the search facility is often worse than useless trying to match your newly found upload to an exisiting post.

Those posters who get the praise without the brick-bats are those who have previously downloaded from a paysite and good on them!
But the whole idea of this forum, surely, is that porn hunters don't have to shell out for membership.

The only way, it seems to make a post without being made to feel a prize muppet for a duplicate post is pay for original material or post a file which has been found to be unique after an exhausting and tireless search of this site.

I agree that lurkers and leechers are in no way able to make demands from the uploaders, but losing that status by joining a pay site for new material kind of goes against the ethos of the site.

1) I admit I used to make a lot of comments on "this have been posted already".
Both as a regular poster and a moderator.
With the increase of posts it's very difficult to keep track.
If you actually would be able to see all my rescent comments, you would find that when I have commented on it, it's just by a link to the other post or saying use search then you would find more.
Usually there wont be any comment.
Besides, the search is working, maybee just not as user friendly as one would like.
2) No argument here. Never been a paying member on any site, except Harrys Babes.

I always search to see if a video I'm considering posting has already been posted. The problem is, a lot of the random P2P (i.e torrent) files I find don't have identifying info, nor do a lot of the posts here, either (for obvious deletion prevention reasons.)

I have found many videos elsewhere that I knew the name of the performer, for example, and after searching the forum, found it had already been posted, and therefore didn't repost.

One can't be expected to view every post on this forum to find out if a vid is already here.

As svinto said, it's best to just point out the link to the original posting to give the original poster some credit, with no need to scold the duplicate poster Very Happy

Agreed. I really try to post material that has never been seen here before, but there are a number of posters who deliberately change file names, or omit the name of the actress, which makes the search useless. All you can do is hope that somebody makes a "Who is that girl" post, followed by an answer from somebody else.

At that point the search function may give you a clue if you are reposting, but doing that kind of detective work before every post is counter-productive. Reposting is bound to happen then, even with the best of intentions.

Well first off I would say just be patient with new members like myself..why?..because this is a massive forum and it takes time to see what has *not* been shared..Like I found a backdoor a while back to TSM and I was going to share the Abril stuff and some others I downloaded But saw that NAVARRE had it covered. Now i can do a re-share if necessary later np but as of now all links work ect. I mean if you look around this place you will see there is not a lot that hasn't been shared.. I mean I dont have alot you don't have..I guess it needs to be said that I respect all the major posters here and Darkstar knows waaay more about rock music than you think...And Markino knows waay more about Jazz than you think and lets face it Good Samaritan set the standard waaay back about what a porn site should be. So im a noob and flame me if you will but I will try to contribute. But giants were here first so its not easy to just post up.

As stated above, I am one of the examples.
For nearly a decade I leeched and lurked every forum or website I found,
Joined sites and downloaded all content if I couldn't find it after allot of surfin,
Using every program necessary to get the content.

I was a big shot collector I might add. My Collection was 10TB+...
But it was all lost in a matter of hours. That's what changed me,
I had so much really rare stuff but I lost it because I was too greedy to share it.. They never told me the CD's and DVD's weren't fire-proof Razz

And to back up Svinto, check my threads to see one of his latest "sharp comments" Wink

S3rp is right but if we all chipped in and made a comment about duplicate posts this shouldn't be that big of a deal.
