Listing more favorite guitarists just because I feel like it:

Terry Kath - R.I.P.
Angus Young - the outro solo on Back In Black is how you play rock guitar.
Joe Perry & Brad Whitford - Love early Aerosmith, hate modern Aerosmith.
Ernie Isley - slow & soulful; check his solo on their cover of Summer Breeze.
Prince - great guitarist when he feels like it, distinctive pick attack
Johnny Winter - his first (and IMO best) album alone makes him a great.
Buddy Guy - blues in an almost violent style.
Jerry Reed - his redneck crazy image obscures his brilliant guitar work.
Grady Martin - Nashville studio guy, played on Marty Robbins' El Paso
early George Benson - knows the fretboard like nobody's business
Buck Dharma - frenetic, stinging, like Angus a master of the SG
Eddie Hazel - deceased Funkadelic axeman, check out Maggot Brain
Vernon Reid - a ton of energy
Michael Schenker - can play fast and melodic at the same time.

Mike Bloomfield, Peter Green, Chris Poland, Carlos Santana, Mark Knopfler.

Thanks for reminding me of Rory Gallagher. His concert tour of Ireland DVD is well worth picking up, if it's still in print.

Reggie, Rock, Country, Jaz I like a mix of all of them.

The best music experience was Jimmy Hendrix & Janis Choplin live at Monterrey POP festival. The Doors, Steve Miller, Led Zeppelin, Eagles, Who were second billing.

What a concert. Very Happy

Compared to you all I think I seem fairly...well...bland, but anyway here they are:

Killing Heidi (partly because I think Ella's hot) see more about her here: http://www.funsforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=749

Beatles
Buddy Holly
Moody Blues
The Twilights
Masters Apprentices
Fleetwood Mac (before Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie, think Albatross...)
The Living End
Paul Kelly
The Four Tops
The Doors
The Corrs
Dire Straights
Elvis (not early Elvis or shitty movie Elvis, more '68 comeback and beyond Elvis)
Elvis Costello
Sheryl Crow
Little River Band
Billy Thorpe
Easybeats
Traffic
Bee Gees
to name but a few. Laugh at them if you wish and I make no apologies for the heavy Aussie influence, it's what I grew up listening to, even though nearly all of it was done well before I came into his world, but there you go. I'll even listen to classical, although I could never name any of it, and there's quite a few good sound tracks out there (I'm talking older movies, not so recent) like the original Get Carter soundtrack. I even own a copy of the soundtracks to "A Bridge Too Far" and "Battle of Britain" and I think it's good to have a diverse range of music tastes as everyone here seems to do.

Favorite guitar solos, again just because I feel like it and to indulge my mania for listmaking.

Terry Kath - 25 or 6 to 4 (Chicago): There's something odd about this solo but I dig it.

Jimi Hendrix - Red House: I've never heard better blues playing than this.

Johnny Winter - Be Careful With A Fool: The ultimate white boy takes the ballsiness of the blues and adds blistering speed. Ane he plays without ever using his little finger!

Amos Garrett - Midnight At The Oasis (Maria Muldaur): Wow

Jeff Baxter - Rikki Don't Lose That Number (Steely Dan): Love the double stops and what vibrato!

Paul Kossoff - Alright Now (Free): Another vibrato-meister.

Keith Richards - Sympathy For The Devil (Rolling Stones): After this Keith basically stopped trying to progress as a lead guitarist.

Mick Taylor - Can't You Hear Me Knocking (Rolling Stones): The Stones would never have attempted something like this without the virtuosity of Mick Taylor.

Leslie West - Theme For An Imaginary Western (Mountain): Phrasing, phrasing, phrasing!

Ernie Isley - Summer Breeze (Isley Brothers): Slow, soulful burn from a great guitarist nobody ever talks about as such.

Jeff Beck - Goodbye Pork Pie Hat: Who ever thought a rock guitarist could interpret Mingus like this?

Barry Bailey - Spooky (Atlanta Rhythm Section): More great double stops with that thick Gibson tone.

Tom Johnston - China Grove (Doobie Brothers): Very simple, but it rocks.

Peter Frampton - One-Eyed Trouser Snake Rumba (Humble Pie): His note selection always surprises me. The teenybop thing really overshadowed what a talent this guy was.

I'm all about Hard Rock, Metal, and almost every other form of "hard" music. I call myself a TRUE fan of hard music. What makes such a TRUE fan of hard music?? A TRUE fan doesn't use the mainstream terms "Nu-metal", "Screamo" or any other lame terms for hard music.

I listen to anything and everything, pretty much. I have way too many favorite groups/singers/bands to list, as my music almost tops out at 10 GBs (and grows every day), so I have over 2,000 songs...
