I've been having trouble with RS crashing (page unavailable) message comes up half way through uploads this has only been happening over the last couple of days.

I haven't been a poster or member for very long so I don't know the answers to my next couple of questions.

Is this normal for RS?

What is everyones average upload speed for RS?
Mine is only 8 to 9kbs even though I'm on broadband.

Is there a better host than RS for movies

Thanks

I had real problems uploading to rapidshare last night. And the person I was sending to had trouble downloading. I haven't encountered this sort of problem before, which leads me to think they were just having problems with their server. Seems to be okay tonight.

Your speed seems very low though. I usually average around 36kbs when uploading. Much faster when downloading. It may depend on the width of your broadband though.

Hope this has been some help...

Have just found this from rapidshare on a music blog
it might help clear up some problems people are having.

RapidShare exists for two years now and we have learned much about the likes, dislikes and demands of our customers. We know that most people want a better support, more speed, much more space (yes, we have a space-problem right now, so the inactivity-timeout of 30 days for free users had to be shortened to 10 days. This is better than to disable the uploads completely.), more features and maybe a better website. Right now we are preparing all this for you, but it still needs a bit of time. Tons of servers with thousands of very big hard-disks are still arriving, many professional employees are getting ready to serve you, the world's biggest providers are preparing dozens of 10-Gigabit ports just for us. RapidShare stays the same, but RapidShare will be much better than RapidShare. Confused? We hope to be ready to present you the future of 1-click file-hosting on 15.10.2006. So stay tuned, and stay with us.

That upgrade can't come quick enough.

Been trying to download those Liz Vicious videos of Bavaria's and i'm lucky to get over 10k/sec. Couple of downloads have even stopped and given up on their own. Confused

Hi All

My upload problems all solved.

It turn out to be the funniest thing.

I've been saving my clips to disk then uploading them to RS from the disk, not the way to do it apparently.

I tried an upload straight from my HD and had no problem.
3 uploads later and still no problems

Once again thanks to everyone for your replies.

I love rapidshare. Compared to megaupload and sexuploader, rapidshare wins hands down. The premium account gives you the option of a free tool for batch download/uploads, plus if you hit 10000 points you get a free account. The speeds are constantly good with a premium account too. A lot of people hate rapidshare but I don't know why. I think it's great because it makes downloading and uploading so easy.

PISS ON RS

Why such a negative response? Because of there new "upgrade" cost thousands if not millions of users (both members & nonmembers) a whole heap of wasted time by deleting there files which were over 100mb.

I have always held a little contempt for them because you have to get a premium account to avoid download limits. And to think I was actually going to buy an account this month.

Sure there are a lot of free hosts that are pretty much crap but after what RS has done almost anyone of them is better.

Think I am full of it? just look around and see how many dead RS links there are on the forum now.

So it looks like their upgrade is underway.

Unfortunately it seems at the moment as a premium user I can only log into rapidshare.de and not rapidshare.com. I'm assuming they're going to transfer premium accounts over to the .com site aren't they?

I didn't even know there was a .com site. I only ever use the .de site.

Rapidshre.de.....is FULL

they let you move your account to .com and you get the 'points' and unused days transferred.

BUT you dont get the 'points' from the .de uploads to the .com account.

AND when the .de account expires those uploads will go to a 10 days and then be deleted (like a free account)

Crappy news ws777ot if what your saying is true then I'm about to loss
9000 points from one of my RS folders and close to 7000 on my other 2.

As for the 10 day thing they will only delete files if they haven't been downloaded for that long. Is that right?

yes...seems limit is now 10 days. ...unless you are premium member.

my point transferred to rapidshare.com...BUT you get 8000 bonus when you join new anyway. AND all points gathered now at rapidahre.de are useless since their servers are full
