It's just a scale of economy thing. To me... $1-$2 is not a lot of money to pay for an album. My time is better spent on other things. I know I can download the whole album in one place, at high quality, without searching.
This whole discussion reminds me of when I worked in retail. I used to find it amusing dealing with people who were determined to waste their entire day shopping around to try and save $10 on a product. Isn't your time better spent elsewhere?
I know torrents, p2p and W@R3z sites are free, but I have no idea what I'm downloading until I'm done. I can't count the number of songs that have gotten to 90% on Shareaza and then I've found that screechy noise 30 seconds from the end of the track. Or, how annoying is it when you can only find tracks 1-8 and 10-14? Where's my @#$%ing track 9 you &*@#??? Also, I can't control the bitrate quality. Besides that, I have no way of browsing a catalogue. Sometimes I don't know what I want.
Believe me. I've probably downloaded more on p2p, MIRC and torrents during the last 3 years that the rest of the free world put together. I have tried the free way and prefer the allofmp3.com method for downloading music.
