Rapidshare - new system: I am PISSED forever!

OK, this is ONLY about rapidshare, I am not willing to discuss any other hoster here.

30 days - 30 gigs of traffic???? Are you fucking joking RS???

Let me quickly tell you what happened to me:

You may recall the time when you were able to collect rapidpoints back then. So did I. To get rewards but mainly to keep my account active.
Since I had some very significant amount of files online I quickly reached a large number of rapidpoints. So far so good. Now we all remember that it was only possible to prolong for 6 months. So did I.
Also you could only order one reward at a time.
The consequences were that my amount of points was rising beyond believe.
Then RS made the "cash for points" move. I thought: great. So I was collecting and collecting.

And guess what? After I reached a huge amount of points I got that mail saying: "We closed our cash program"
End of story. Guess who was fucked? Yes, me.
Well, at least I could order my camera and prolong my account for many years (I calculated that at one point)
So I THOUGHT...because after I ordered my camera I got the mail" I am sorry, we have closed ALL of our reward system"

So guess who was fucked again?
Well, at least I could still prolong my account for many years.
Guess what happened?
Right: fucked again. New rules.
And now I am seriously angry.
My old points melted to very few new points. Don't ask me why they did that. I eventually don't care anymore.
But SERIOUSLY: 30 days - 30 gigs download????????????
1 gig PER DAY?
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME, RAPIDSHARE???
That is even fucking worse than any hoster I have ever seen.
And yes: after all I experienced with rapidshare (and I am not alone, I know that) I call this a rip off. And I am not even talking about blocking my account and deleting copyright FREE material I was sharing.

I just needed to get that off my chest.

WTF and I love it aren't really any valid options for a poll. The truth will most probably lie in between.

And using the right tools, the limit isn't worth mentioning as I explained in the one and only RS thread.

For 4.99 Eur you get 400 rapids.

- 10GB storage and 30GB traffic cost 99 rapids.

- Each additional 1 GB of storage costs 2 Rapids per 30 days. 5 GB additional traffic volume will be charged with only 14 Rapids.

So if I understand it right, you can get 10GB storage and 137,5 GB traffic for only 4.99 Eur and that´s more and cheaper than you get for a Premium account on Oron

Posting/sharing should only be for fun, not for making money.

RS isn't the best out there, but still one of the best IMO, that is, if your goal is to share the porn you like with people you like. I use Rapidshare and oron

For me rapidshare still is the better one...

Oron has a lot of issues when downloading and / or uploading...

And don start asking what system I use or whatever...

I don't have those problems with Rapidshare

Yeah, RS is the best.

You get fast dl ratio, a good upload tool and they don't give copyright holder any info.

The other hosters we should not mention here are:

- more expensive
- not reliable (broken dls, broken uploads)
- unusable (unreadable captcha, long waiting time, dl links generated for the IP)

RS is fine if/as long as you can find RS-links. Is flexible another word for complicated?
9.95€ - 1000 Rapids -> one month (30GB) + additional 320GB -> 350GB (3.5TB during HappyHour)
(3*323 Rapids -> 3 months @ 110GB
(1/2 * 7.52€ = 3.51€) 351 Rapids -> 120GB
(0.99€) 99 Rapids -> 300 GB at HH (up to 10 months for 9.95€)

MU is a very good choice.
9.99€ - One month MegaUpload: (unlimited traffic)

Don't forget about RS Happy Hours. Download 10 times as much than they deduct your allowed traffic.
Free FIleManager works great for that.
You can choose to set it up for starting the downloads at a given time.
Just add the links into the queu and sit back waiting for them to arrive.

Right before they did away with the points, you got to convert them to rapids.

At this moment this is what I have:

extend my account for 1949 day(s) 7 hours 8 minutes as of today.

my download traffic is 1,958 GB

The purpose of this thread was likely to show that rapidshare is a real lousy option, and that oron is excellent.
But it just shows once again that rapidshare is the best file hoster on the market followd by Megaupload

The thing is Rapidshare have changed due to pressure from the music/film industry. No doubt MU will be next in their sites for being pressured into cleaning up their act. Back to RS, they've pissed off a lot of people and lost a lot of customers. Those who do it for the money like yourself, ayebite, will not come back. But as for those of us who share for fun, not profit, some of us quite like the new RS. A 'premium' account (admittedly nowhere near as 'premium' as the old ones) costs a tiny fraction of the old price.

I was never a high volume uploader (though I had my moments), so the rewards programme motivation for me was simply to earn enough points to keep extending my account each month. I got many times over the months I originally paid RS for, for free, so I was of the opinion they didn't owe me anything. But when my circumstances changed it became a pain to have to upload like crazy and worry each month if I'd earn enough points to extend.

So the new RS suits me reasonably well. I'll pay a small amount (haven't had to yet, as my points were converted to ~4 months Rapids), host my files and download with no waiting. I'll use common sense and take advantage of Happy Hour. Still suits my needs, as someone who doesn't want any financial reward from hosting copyrighted files using the filehost's bandwidth.

RS is far from perfect, and clearly not for everyone, but it's proven reliable unlike other pretenders. Take advantage of the Happy Hour (download limit x 10), and up to 10 months for 9.95€ is ridiculously cheap compared to MU and the others (I think 1 month of the old RS cost around the same). I've no interest in paying 60€/year (MU) or whatever Oron charges, just for a hobby. The only problem is there's less on RS to download these days of course, but I know I'll easily get my money's worth for the year... and if not, it's only small change you've wasted.

But yes, ayebite, you and your business minded kind will no doubt prefer Oron. That's your decision.

My points where converted to Rapids and I have now enough to extend it for 38 months (was originally 40 and has been extended twice already) without paying a cent, as long as I don't download more than the allowed monthly traffic. Who knows what will happen in that time period.
They might reintroduce a reward system again.

I was feed up with the 45 secound delay so I payed MU €199 for a Platinum account.
No up/download limits, no limits on storage time, no waiting between downloads, multiple downloads in parallell.
