Yes - congratulations to our American cousins indeed!

They'll not look back now despite the massive vested interests that were against the Healthcare Bill.

It's unconstitutional to force anyone to buy anything simply for being alive. All these suckers who want this have no idea they are going to have to buy insurance now. They think they're getting it for free.

I note that the heritage.org website tells you it's a conservative research site so there's no surprise in what it says.

It would be a MAJOR surprise if it said anything to the contrary.

Just the normal right wing propoganda that you would expect.

Sometimes illegal is just illegal - no matter the political slant.

Fortunately, at the time I wrote this, there are attorneys general in 12 states that are standing up and declaring they'll fight this unconstitutional piece of legislation. I have little doubt there will be more.

Their "fight" is still just political posturing.

Something had to be done about the US health care system.
This is a start. It was quite a fight to get it started.

I am thrilled by the health care system in Holland.
Moving here 27 years ago was the best decision of my life.

The government can not force you to purchase insurance. They can not fine you, take your property, or jail you for not buying it.

Congress cannot impose a tax to penalize or control conduct.

This will be ruled unconstitutional.

Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether or not it'll be declared unconstitutional. That article was written in August of last year but they sure as hell went ahead with it anyway. And, from what I've read so far, the Attorneys General that are standing up to fight it stand little chance of winning because Federal law trumps State law.

All I can think of these days is how we're supposed to have a government of the people, by the people and for the people and how it's anything but that. It never ceases to amaze me how no one wants to admit why our economy is in such bad shape. In simple terms, they're wiping out the middle class that keeps capitalism afloat. This health care bill is just the latest piece of shit being crammed down our throats.

I still believe that we need to get rid of all of the career politicians and get some younger blood in the congress and senate. I mean you can only be president for a total of 8yrs but there are senators and congressmen/women that have been in office for decades, it just never made any sense to me why there are no term limits for them. We recently passed a law in my state setting term limits for our politicians and got rid of some that were only looking out for certain special interests. I think the U.S government needs to take a look at doing the same thing. I think 10yrs should be long enough for anyone to be in office.

You know what gets me is how they can cut the pay of state workers and a week later give themselves & their staff raises. You can bet your sweet ass Congress will always have the best health insurance possible, even while you and I wait 12 weeks to see a PCP.

I wholeheartedly agree with that. But, ever the conspiracy theorist, I firmly believe that this country isn't being run by the politicians. I think Big Money is pulling the strings from behind the curtain and would never allow it.

Don't get me wrong - I'd love to see them all out on their self-serving asses and be proven wrong. I just don't see it happening.

P.S. Where's my bailout???

You mean like the well known congressman John Dingell, Jr. He's had his ass entrenched in the same seat in Congress since 1955, and before him his father had been in the same seat since 1933. Detroit's puppet in DC.

...and Kentucky's Jim Bunning for his heart rendering crying about missing a basketball game because he had to do his job and New Jersey's Scott Garrett for his belief that the SEC did nothing wrong in overseeing the Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme and that more oversight wasn’t necessary and Louisiana's WIlliam Jefferson for taking over $100,000 in bribes and commandeering a helicopter to retrieve his personal belongings after Katrina hit his state and Colorado's Marilyn Musgrave for her evangelical Christian crusade to eliminate the separation between Church and State, complete with text book censorship and California's Jerry Lewis for his misuse of his position as chairman of the Appropriations Committee to steer hundreds of millions of dollars in earmarks to family and friends in direct exchange for contributions to his campaign committee and political action committee and... the list goes on.

This whole crap bill would start billing you now, but not take effect till 2014. It's so fucking expensive, they had to cheat and use 10 years of payments for 6 years of coverage to make it look cheaper! Every time you hear one of those fucktards talk about we need it right now, remember it doesn't take effect for another 4 years.

And

Let me remind you this has been going on for years. We are bringing it to a halt. The harsh fact of the matter is when you’re going to pass legislation that will cover 300 American people in different ways it takes a long time to do the necessary administrative steps that have to be taken to put the legislation together to control the people.
