Another RS-question:
Since maybe two weeks i noticed that my modem is still holding the ip-adress (normally it closes the connection after 15min) even if there's no activity . I checked for viruses and other malware but the only connection i could find with a network sniffer (wireshark) was some ips all related with rapidshare.

I found out that it must be because in one of my browser tabs the premium-account page was loaded and this page is constantly sending some calls to RS.
I'm pretty sure that this is something new, never had that before.
Is it only me or has anybody else noticed that?

have you check wiith hjackthis your machine, also with malwarebytes? think is a deep rootkit in your pc, not a problem with RS.

if you have a second pc, please shutdown your master and then check the problem with other pc, comes the same?

You are right, showroom, maybe another check with your suggested tools can not be wrong.
But since i have closed this open tab, the connections also don't happen anymore, so i'm pretty sure this behaviour is related to RS.

If you want to extend your premium account, it's much faster to convert the premium points to free points and use these points for extension (10,000 points = one month).
Convert them in money will take several weeks and I don't know, if they will pay (they can say, you violated their TOS with sharing copyrighted material and will get nothing).

And you have to deactivate the security lock, that's the reason for the RSAntiHack problem.

I just got paid 57.99 euros, which is more than the 29.99 euros I paid for a 6 month premium account. I also have enough points to last for anoher 6 months, good deal. Thanks to everyone who downloaded my files.

RapidShare AG just sent you money with PayPal.

Does anyone know if there's any truth to the rumor that Rapidshare checks your files before payment? I've read where people have had their accounts locked and been denied payment for what files they've uploaded

I read one or two posts about that behaviour on another board, but compared to the assumed amount of user that must have tried to get paid, it's a small number.

For me it would not make sense that RS is paying a guy to check the accounts (paying the guy, then paying the user = no-no).
Maybe there's a special counter in your account that shows RS how many files have been blocked or at least deleted (by RS) due to copyright trouble. And if this counter exceeds a certain value they assume that you have posted against their TOS and won't pay or close your account.

If i would plan to request a payout, i would move my files to another account, then maybe wait one or two month (maybe then the moving-logs are cleared) before requesting ...

I doubt I'm going to do it, but the thought of getting a few hundred dollars right now makes it tempting. I just can't see risking having my account locked up and having to go back and re-up a few thousand files and fix all the broken links on all the boards I'm on.

I noticed this, too. Some traffic, though no active browsing, only the RS page showing in the browser.

I turned off JavaScript once and that stopped (reloading? checking?) the RS page. Question

afaik RS is only protecting themselves from fraud (fake points) and don't care about the content of files (as long as noone reports the links), but i never tested this.

Thanks for the info.
I got a bit unsure, cause i checked my system and didn't find any virus or malware.
I guess i can live with that ...

I have a new problem with rapidshare: i can't use the rapid uploader.
I haven't been able to upload anything. I can login as a premium user but when i try to upload files their status immediatly change to "aborted!"

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Pretty easy.

Change the settings for upload to Level 3:

Preferences - General
