Changes in the handling of RapidPoints

July 1, 2009
As you know, we are constantly trying to improve your experience with RapidShare. This includes simplifying our system, fighting fraud attempts and, of course, improving your benefits.
In order to accommodate those needs, we have modified the way we count the RapidPoints generated by Premium Users. There is no 255 points limit per day anymore. This means, you can get an unlimited number of PU RapidPoints per day. The PU RapidPoints will not be stored separately, but added directly to your RapidPoints total, so they can also be used immediately.
Every Premium User can generate 10 RapidPoints per day for other users by downloading their files. Those changes take effect immediately.

If you would like to see how many RapidPoints and PU RapidPoints you have received each day, please let us know. We consider adding this information as an evaluation feature in the future.

on their german site they say a PU can generate a rapidpoint every 10 minutes Question Exclamation
Quote:

No download limits for premium user.

Thanks for passing that bit of information along. I was wondering why my average daily total was a bit lower than before the change. It sure as hell would've been nice for them to let the English speakers know what's going on. Confused Seems it's going to be harder to keep the points up to extend your account which, in turn, I think will mean we're going to see a lot of accounts go down. That'll be a lot of dead files on the forums!

The important question is:

Which version does RS use Question Question Question

The english "10 RapidPoints per day"

The german "every 10 minutes"

Getting 330 points a day will be hard with the english version!!!

Do you get more points with these new rules?

Definitely not - I've uploaded more files than before, getting more hits and less points. The only thing I can think of is that RS is tired of extending accounts for points instead of cash. If this system stays in place, I think they'll find they lose a lot of customers. Without free extensions, they're "just another file host" - one that's slow and erratic.

Thank god I've built up enough points for another year or two. Their New Year's Eve 'sale' letting you extend for 6 months for less points is another way I'll be able to keep things up. I hope they continue to do that each year.

Yes, you do get lots of extra points. So instead of posting a site rip over a couple of weeks, I can blurb it in one shot [ok a couple days maybe]. My points took a big jump with this change.

And the people that bitch about the connections and speeds of RS need to look into their world.... your ISP is hitting the brakes on you if you aren't getting full speeds. I get 8mb+ on almost all my downloads.

I didn't know about New Years.. is there a limit on how many months can be renewed maximum.... 13 years? heheh
