When I go to a link (for linksave) it asks for a code to download the file. However, the captcha code is blacked out meaning I can't read what the code is. When I refresh the page, a different part of the code is blacked out.

Does anyone know what I could do to read the code please?

You have to allow JavaScript as far as I know (see pic) :

Sometimes you get these gateway errors (age old board software + crowded place = Crash), it's a known board problem and you just have to wait until it's over.

If you check the login box (see pic), you will stay until you manually click the log out button (or if you delete your cookies of course).

Thanks for your replies. Which java do I need to download in order for the code to be displayed. I thought I had java, but perhaps I don't have the correct version?

Java and JavaScript is not the same.

For more information read here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Javascript

Don't know, which browser you're using, I'm using FFX 3 and the add-on NoScript.

Therefore all scripts are forbidden and I've to allow them manually (just two clicks).

Then everything works fine.

I have firefox 3.09. I don't have no-script installed. I download and installed something from java.com but the problem is still the same. All other captchas like at yahoo I can read without a problem, it's just at linksave that the problem is.

You should update to version 3.0.11 and maybe try using NoScript.

Is JavaScript activated:

http://www.livepages.co.uk/browserhelp/firefoxJavaScript.html

1. In the Tools drop-down menu, select Options.
2. Next, select the Content icon/tab at the top on the window.
3. Then, check the Enable Javascript checkbox under the Web Content category.
4. Hit OK to close the Options window and save your changes.
5. Finally, Refresh your browser.

Then some sort of security software prevents the captcha.

You have to google about the problem, sorry (read somewhere that the Zone Alarm Firewall causes similar problems).

I think as it's just one website I get this problem, I'll put up with it. If I refresh the page at linksave, I can usually get a code where only one number is blacked out. Then I will just go through all numbers (pressing the back button if I'm wrong) and that should get it in the end.

Thanks for all your help anyway Smile
