hi everyone

here is some usefull infomation on how to spot a phishing site.

What is 'phishing'?

Quote:
Phishing is an attempt to criminally and fraudulently acquire sensitive information, such as usernames, passwords and credit card details, by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.

There has been a recent surge in the amount of topics attempts to steal Rapidshare Premium Accounts. By typing your login and password into a phishing site, they will be able to steal your account. You will then need to go through Rapidshare Support to try and retrieve it.

What to look for:

Most are hidden using Link Protector Sites or Link Redirectors such as TinyURL.

When sent to a Rapidshare page, you click on PREMIUM, phishing sites will ask you to 'login', even though Rapidshare.com has already saved your login details

a) The correct web site address should show up when you right click on the link
:select properties.
it should show all the information you need like file name ,type and the address url
A Phishing site will use a different address

b) Check the properties using Internet Explorer. Right click on the page, then click on properties. If the address is not a correct Rapidshare link, then it is most likely a phishing site:

*Certificates. Some sites will have what looks like an Authentic Certification for Security.

But, if you move your cursor over it, it will show that it is obviously fake

If you get asked to log in on any site where you don't normally please check to make absolutely sure before you enter your details that it is the site you are intending to visit.

I hope this information will help..take care everyone

ps if anyone else as any more information please feel free to add it.
