"Screen Grab Pro Deluxe"
But it's not free.
I think you get a try version of 30 days.

A quick Google for the term, "download Media Player Classic" will get you half a dozen or so places to download this media player for free. Not only will it play things the current windows media player will not, it will also take either single images or a thumbnail page of your desired size and frames number. Simply click file once you are running it and its easy to find the prompts from there.

thanks salty! that answers the mystery as to why i see media player classic logo on some of these. i thought it was just a media player. hopefully it's not a paid version to get those screen thumbs feature.

So you want to make thumbs and not a screen grap.
download "Topaz Moment" it's free and it looks just the same as media player classic

thanks monkey. i see there was a 3.01 version that came out this year, that would probably be compatible with vista. i do not see an english version though, so not sure if i am out of luck with this, don't understand german, so i am unsure of installing it. is there a website for the developers?

Generally i think MediaPlayer Classic is easier to use for a simple thumbnail-preview: once you have set your defaults (rows, columns, pic-width) everything is automatic. But you can't change the look and feel, means you cannot edit the video properties display nor the colors or shadows of the preview.

The easiest way to use MPC is to put a link in your send-to folder so by right clicking on a video you can easily start MPC (and make thumbnails) from within your folder.
That does not work (at least for me) with ImageGrabber.

But with ImageGrabber you have a lot more possibilities to change the style, shadow, color and so on and add comments to the pic.
