hello guys, i need to buy a video card there is a problem though.

the case is one of those ATX? box's the one where the monitor can fit on top and looks like it is laying on the side,

the new video cards like an ATI 38** seems to be to high to fit in the case doesnt fit on. cant screw it in etc.

need a good vid card that is at least an ATI 96** OR G-Force 6800 Or better,
these are the minimum cards i want, if there is a better one for around the same price or not much more that is good,

Needs to Be AGP or PCI the MB doesnt have PCI-e

the card needs at least 256MB,

so the 2 main this are being ABLE to fit in the case, AND AGP or PCI

thanks in advance for the help

Hi.

To tell the truth,
I can't imagine your computer-case exactly. I mean, I know
which kind of case you got but I don't know how it looks like
from inside so I think it's hard to give you an usefully advice
as far for a new graphic-card.

I think you probably have one of them, right? Rolling Eyes

I also have still an older computer but I've put everything in
a midi-tower. It also got a AGP-slot for graphiccards and if
your mainboard doesn't contain a "PCI-express x.16 slot"
then I would give you the advice to search for an AGP-card
because there are still more out than for the PCI-slot.

This one here would be just great to use:

It's an ATI HD3850 (512MB) of sapphire tech.
I always used ATI cards of sapphire and never had
problems which couldn't be resolved via drivers.

But I have no clue if this card will fit in your case. Rolling Eyes

thank you for the reply, R/\YDEN.

well the card needs to be around a centimeter to acm and a half, shorter along line A

and maybe a little shorter along Line B.

THAN an ati 38**

so if that card is shorter along line A that is good, i will have to measure how much is max for line B.

it is line A that is most important. so far.

Check attachment for the LINE A,B

P.S yes the first pic you put there the white object, if that is a computer case then yeah it is like that, where you can easily put the monitor on it.

Hello, rabidsharer.

It seems that it will get pretty difficult to find a grapiccard which
has to be smaller on the "line A" because the silver panel of the
card where you plug your monitor in is standard-size so if it has
to be smaller then I have no clue how to order one in these days.

I thought the HD3850 is small because compared to my
actually GPU which I'm using now (HD4870 X2), it's just
like a dwarf.
Arrow Here's mine:

Like I've said before,
I have no experience with Nvidea cards!
I've only used ATI cards since I'm dealing with building and
modding computers. I've searched a little bit and found a
smaller card (AGP) of NVIDEA.

Arrow This one here: Nvidia Geforce 7600GT AGP (512 MB)
screenshot

Idea As you can see,
the silver panel got the same size as the card itself and
I think it can't get any smaller than this. "Line B" is also
shorter than the length of a HD3850.

Sure, there are really small cards like a Geforce 6200 A out
but I don't think you want them because you've said...
Rapidsharer wrote:

Arrow Here would be an example regarding the size of the 6200 A:
screenshot

Still, the card got a memory of 512MB but compared to
all actually graphiccards, it's slow as hell. It depends on
what you want to use it for. I use my GPU to play actually
3D-games like "Far cry 2", "crysis" or "GTA IV" on a
monitor-resolution of 1680x1050 pixel so I could never
run such games on a card like the G-Force 6200 or
even a HD3850.

Idea By the way,
not all the online-stores give informations about the size
of a graphiccard, though. Maybe you could google a card
with letters like...
Code:
geforce 7600GT AGP+test+size

...or similar words.

It wouldn't make any sense to tell you good "online shops"
as far for hardware because I come from another country
than you. And I can't imagine that you would order (import)
a graphiccard from another country that you could get in
your own country as well. I mean the import would be
more expensive than the card itself.

I'm at the end of all my wisdom and advices so all I
can do is to wish you good luck on finding a videocard
with the perfect size. Rolling Eyes

Best regards,
Rayden

It might be worthwhile to take your question to some of the graphics card manufacturers themselves.

Hi Rapidsharer

I don't know if you've found a card for your computer, but what you need is a low-profile PCI-card (i can only find 3 low-profile AGP cards on newegg and those have ancient GPU's) I found this one from Jaton:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814139046

It's a low-profile card with PCI and a Geforce 9500 GT GPU, 1 GB of ram and it's Direct X 10 capable. If you look at the pictures it has a low-profile bracket included so you just swap the big backplate for the smaller one.

The only downside I can see is the price: 99.99$! - for a PCI-e card with similar specs and ram you would only have to pay 55$.
