Does anyone have any insight about why so many posts are now labeled by RS to be inappropriate or in violation of terms of service? From looking at the previews, it doesn't seem problematic? or is this simply copyright holders getting pissed and reporting to RS?

Thanks for any insight.

I have never reported anyone's posts before, but my guess is that it is easier to report content as "illegal" than it is to formally report a legitimate copyright violation. A poster in another thread said that he once reported one of his own uploads as a 'copyright violation' as a test and that RS requested proof that he was the copyright holder. On the other hand, since they don't want to get shut down by lawsuits for hosting k.i.d.d.i.e. porn, they appear to have an automated system that immediately blocks DLs of any files reported as illegal content. It seems as if anyone who is an a-hole can simply get any files they don't like removed. For example, there is one unidentified cowardly loser here at FP who does this consistently with a particular (perfectly legal) fetish that he/she doesn't like. All links of completely legal posts with this fetish get immediately reported and blocked by this loser.

The stupid part is that I have never seen a link go to the "7-day review" and ever become active again, which is ridiculous because most of the reported files are completely legal and are just being reported without cause by jealous leechers who have nothing better to do than annoy membes who actually post content. So that implies to me that the 'illegal' post reporting system is completely automated and that no one is actually looking at any of those files. Any reported file is simply deleted after the 7 days to cover their asses. Which is a stupid policy, and one that will eventually drive away clients, who should not have their uploads at the mercy of any loser with an ax to grind.

I will admit to reporting a couple of files hosted at RS because they were of copyright material from my friends website (Melissa Ashley). I hasten to add that the files hadn't been posted on this forum, if they were then I'd pm the person involved and ask them to remove them. The files were removed in a couple of days, no questions asked by RS.

The big problem with sharing files here is that many links don't just remain shared in this forum. Newzfind and it's sister site Sexyshare take links from here (and other places) and add them to their lists. It happens everyday and it's obvious to anyone who knows the popular threads here. It's an easy source of file links for anyone who wants to get shared stuff removed from circulation. Maybe the Mods can take action to prevent Newzfind from using this forum as a source of links.

"Illegal" in Rapidshare lingo means something that it is in breach of their terms of service. It could be copyrighted stuff, porn, anything... doesn't mean the file itself contained anything unlawful.
