i'd like to warn all mozilla firefox users to stick with the older version for the time being,
i downloaded the new version and its pissing me off because it keeps freezing up all the time and then wont start again unless i re-boot the computer.
i've tried to uninstall it and go back to the older version but for some reason it wont let me do that.

i want my old firefox back!

i was using 1.0.7 and was very happy with that version, i searched for updates for anextension called 'downthemall' and installed all updates that was recomended,
the new version of firefox is 1.5 and its crap as far as i'm concerned,
i would advise you to stick with the one you're using because once you upgrade it wont let you go back to the older version.

You may have some other software conflict to explore. I've been using Firefox 1.5 with Win XP SP2 for a couple of weeks and there's no freezing. If you have a problem with it, submit a bug report.

I use both IE and Mozilla....but the newest version has worked great since downloading it.

I'm running 1.0.7, and it also works good for me. It only ever freezes when I have a bunch of other things running (like, say, streaming videos and such). I've had much better luck with it than IE. I still do have IE though in case I ever have ANY kind of problem with Firefox (like how I occasionally run into an incompatibility on a website with Firefox).

All versions of Mozilla Firefox that I use seem to always freeze when im using tabs on a high bandwith site, so it isn't a problem related only to 1.5.

jimpel, would you happen to know the processor speed, RAM, etc. of your pc?

Because i know my problems are related directly to my PC's small RAM and slow processor...can't wait to get a new pc.

I have been having problems with 1.5 as well, but I think it's a conflict with some of the extensions i have installed. I have been using firefox in "safe mode" (you can get to this from the firefox folder on your programs list) but I think I'm going to try something else. my plan is to write all the extensions down that i have installed currently, delete them all, and then install them again one at a time until I find which one is causing the problem.

thanks for the replys guys, i did post a reply to this yesterday but its dissapeared? i was probably too drunk.
processor speed is 1.69 ghz and ram is 512 mb
but yes you were right there is a conflict and i believe its because of the extension 'downthemall' which is a beta version and a more solid version is going to come later,
since i disabled this i have'nt had any more problems (fingers crossed)
i did like this extension because rather than clicking on each pic or movie on a page you just click once and it grabs them all for you,
if any of you are interested you can get it here-
http://downthemall.mozdev.org/

here's another extension i'd like to share with you ( i bet you woud!)
its a programme that stops nasty people planting java script on you, sometimes this will prevent pages from opening propally but you just click and temporarely allow it,
its a good thing if you value your security-
http://www.noscript.net/whats

and another is one that will open the first thumb from many links to save you time clicking on each one, get it here-
http://www.squarefree.com/extensions/thumbs/

but my favourite extension i'd like to give to you ( put it away big boy ) is for lazy people like me and allows me to get about by just right clicking and making a gesture with the mouse,
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/marc.boullet/ext/extensions-en.html

what are your favs?

the first sign of madness is talking to yourself ( whats he on about now?)
here's a little christmassy story for you-
a few years ago i was at a party and a little girl found me talking to myself in a corner, of course i was too drunk to remember but she told me the next day that when she asked who it was i was talking to i replied 'mojo' and from that day on every christmas i always recieve two cards from that girl with one addressed to 'mojo'
isn't that nice.
happy new year all.

In other forums v1.5 is liked. Esp. the new tabbing.

However not all extensions are updated for it yet.

I'm still using v1.06. It works for me.
