The FAQs of this forum is the standard set that comes with the softwarekit.
Not really helpfull imo.

Not sure what you mean by tags unless it's the bold, italic, underline of text or adding an emoticon in the subject line that is.
Doesn't work and there is no switch for it.
The soft is very old, relativly speaking.

btw you could remove that link you have in the sig.
It goes to an unexisting post.

I think he meant tags like this:

A tag is a non-hierarchical keyword or term assigned to a piece of information (such as an internet bookmark, digital image, or computer file). This kind of metadata helps describe an item and allows it to be found again by browsing or searching.

(source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tag_(metadata))

Example: "Asian" as tag would list all so indexed posts.

I don't think that the board software would allow this.

If I understand you correctly, these are not built-in tags. Members put them manually. Normally, some forums allow tags (using hacks or plugins) for certain sites like 'youtube', and you get tags like , and as such you can watch a clip from within the forum without having to leave the site.

For more information about TAGS read this:

Ummm, No thats not quite it. That sounds like an embedded link. The ones i'm talking about usually are typed into the title by the creator of the topic. Although some sites will not allow you to continue past the title of a new post without choosing tags.

Here are a couple of pics i made for ya...

red circles = tags
green = topic title

This way you don't have to open a particular post and find that the links inside are from a filehost you never use. Like MS(megashares.com)! God i hate that site!!! I only download from RS(rapidshare) and (MU(megaupload) because i have a premium account with those two only.

Getting the idea? It's a great timesaver for any user of the forum. Without Tags in the titles we're all sort of trying to use one big library card-catolog without the letters on the front of the drawers. You know what i mean? You have open the drawer to see if it's the one you want. Thats just a waste of time. Much better with the letters(tags) on the drawers(titles)

so, now that we're all clear, i hope, on what i mean by"tags" in the topic titles, can i get a ruling from a mederator/admin? Is it ok to post tags or not? A few sites actually have it in the rules that tags are not to be used in titles. idk why. i looked at the FAQ and found nothing on the subject.

thanks

You're the first one to ask about this, shmeet.
It hasn't been discussed between moderators and admins.
There is no rule that forbids it to be used and there is no rule that makes it mandatory to put it in the title.
There are no settings available in the forum soft to create what you have mentioned, a barrier that demands a sitetag before you could actually submit the post.*
It is allowed, for now, decided by the poster whether it should be put there or not.

Since the FAQs of the forum doesn't provide help and answers to all questions, we have this section.
Thanks for asking, shmeet.
Even if it took some time for us boneheads to understand what you meant. Very Happy
I must point out three things to you.
The samplepics where oversized and hosted with a currently unapproved host.
In the sample pic there is a url to another forum.
Barely showing but still possible to read, with some imagination.
Mine is vivid.
https://www.forumophilia.com/topic53075.html guideline b:4
https://www.forumophilia.com/topic59567.html approved hostlist
https://www.forumophilia.com/topic53075.html rule #7
So there, a bonehead and an asshole. All in one person. Wink

* I assume that on the sample site you provided a pic from, any post that contravenes this are deleted and the poster is banned.
I mean if you state in the title [RS] and then post [MU] links.
Any reply made with additional links are treated the same.

No rules here about using this sort of tags. Other boards forbids it because it can interfere with the search function.

Feel free to use it.

I should refresh a thread more often Smile

I think he'll use e.g. [RS.com] or [RS] in title so everyone knows that he uses RS as hoster.

Exactly!!!!!!! Very Happy Also, i might have uploaded the same set of links in a post to MU(megaupload) just to have around as a mirror download/backups. So my topic title would look like this:

[RS/MU] The Unborn 2009 CAM Xvid

Some ppl get really into the benifits of traffic and will put copies of the same file on 5-6-10 different filehoser sites. lol

like : [RS/MU/FF/MS/ND] there are quite a few more out there!

But see how nice it would be for someone who doesn't care to use RS or MU, to be able to skip right by my example topic "The Unborn" when searching for that movie to download. Say they only used a Megashares(MS) premium account for downloading, all they need to do is search for "the unborn" and then only open the search results that have "[MS]" right before the topic title- "the unborn".

Or, ones that have [MS] just included in a string of others. Very Happy

like [MU/RS/FF/MS] and/or just the single [MS] tag.

Very helpful tool for anyone searching for specific downloads, and then some! lol

But thanks for the Green light! Very Happy Maybe it will catch on...

Oh, Monkey D. Ruffy, the only way it might mess with the search function is if ppl posted the tags like this:

[RS.com/MS/FF]The Unborn 2009

As opposed to this:

[RS.com/MS/FF] . . . The Unborn 2009

There only needs to be 1 space between the braket and the first letter of the topic. Obviosly i made it bigger for visual effect.

But i see most of the time ppl dont even leave that 1 space on the forums i visit and the search never has problems. Maybe the computer understands "]" to mean "end" or something like that.. IDK.

Thanks for the replies my my friends and this topic can now be closed/deleted if you'ld like. its up to you.

svinto, are still here?

Sorry about the url in the sample pics. lol

I took great care erasing/eyedroppin-sample colors to make sure they were clean of any urls. i though that would be a problem if i left them. I guess i was right. Very Happy

can you please explain this to me a different way, i'm not quite following what you mean. plus it's 5:30am here and ive been going aaaall night long. Very Happy

Did you really need to remove the pictures from tinypic? I mean, i though the only reason tinypic was not used here is because.... well... Here, i posted my 1st topic with Tinypic links ..... Then this a couple of days later...

"tinypic.com" seems to be the perfect "facility" for uploading images directly to any board. Even full screen HDTV pics and pretty much any size file. No registering or redirecting of any kind. And super fast.

I'm not asking you to add tinypic.com to the list, i could care less. I just wanted to know what makes these sites approvable, and tinypic.com is not. Is there a security risk with tinypic.com maybe?

Ok. thanks. All is GOOD in the world. This forum ROCKS!!!!!

Hi shmeet.

Tinypic (and many, many others e.g. imageshack) aren't on the "permitted list", cause they don't allow adult pics and remove them as soon as they find them.

Sure, at the beginning it works fine, but after a while (days or weeks) it vanished. It will be replaced by another one (attached).

Monkey D. Ruffy

So you see, i chose to use Tinypic specificly because the sample pics were NOT "adult pics" and i knew Tinypic staff, or whoever, would not take them down. lol Thats some irony for ya!

So just answer me this, do the rules say specificly that , when posting pictures of NON-adult related contexts, AND after reading the explination from Monkey D. Ruffy above, is it strictly forbiddon to post normal pics with normal filehosts here?

I mean, not EVERY single piece of cyber-paper is going to have big hairy pussy on it. Right? Even in such a large place like this. And even if it did and it got posted to say...Tinypic, whats the worst that happens? They delete it. Shocked

Plus those pics i made for you guys took me nearly all nite to make. In fact i installed "snag it" for the first time just so i could make them... All nite learning how to use it! You could have at leasdt given me a chance correct it . The post looked rediculous without them. It made no sense.

So how about this : Adult content = Adult filehost
Non-Adult content = Adult -OR- Normal(Nonadult) filehoste
Posters choice.

Jeeeeeeeeze! Smile
